As a Lead Software Engineer Backend, you'll build and scale the backend systems that power platform. You'll solve complex engineering challenges, own critical services end-to-end, and help build highly scalable, reliable, and observable distributed systems.
Responsibilities
- Design, build, and enhance scalable backend services and distributed systems.
- Own backend features from design through production and ongoing improvements.
- Build reliable APIs and services that power mission-critical product workflows.
- Improve system performance, scalability, availability, and reliability.
- Design solutions around databases, caching, messaging, and asynchronous processing.
- Drive observability by improving logging, monitoring, tracing, and debugging capabilities.
- Collaborate closely with Product, Design, and Engineering teams to deliver customer-focused features.
- Review code, troubleshoot production issues, and contribute to engineering best practices.
- Mentor engineers through technical guidance and code reviews while remaining a hands-on individual contributor.
- Leverage AI-assisted development tools to improve engineering productivity and code quality.
You Should Apply If
- You have 6+ years of backend engineering experience.
- You've built and operated scalable backend services in production.
- You have strong programming fundamentals in any modern backend language (Java, Go, Python, Node.js, C#, etc.).
- You have experience designing scalable APIs and distributed systems.
- You have hands-on experience with SQL/NoSQL databases, Redis, and message brokers such as Kafka or RabbitMQ.
- You have worked with Docker and containerized applications.
- You have experience with observability tools such as Grafana, Datadog, OpenTelemetry, or similar.
- You enjoy solving performance, scalability, and reliability challenges.
- You've worked in a product-based SaaS environment.
Nice To Have
- Experience with AWS and cloud-native architectures.
- Kubernetes experience.
- GraphQL experience.
- Experience building platform or observability products.
- Exposure to high-scale distributed systems.
- Experience mentoring engineers or leading technical initiatives.
