Role Description The Eye Bank Counsellor Cum Recovery Technician is a full-time, on-site role based in Aligarh, India. The role involves counselling families and potential donors about eye donation, obtaining consent, and maintaining clear, respectful communication throughout the process. The technician is responsible for coordinating with clinical teams and external partners, performing corneal tissue retrieval in accordance with medical and ethical guidelines, and ensuring proper documentation and reporting. Day-to-day responsibilities include maintaining donor records, adhering to quality and safety protocols within the eye bank, and supporting awareness activities related to eye donation in the community. The role requires working closely with medical staff to ensure timely recovery, preservation, and transfer of corneal tissue for transplantation.

Qualifications

  • Strong counselling, communication, and interpersonal skills for interacting with donors families and multidisciplinary teams.
  • Attention to detail and competency in documentation, data entry, and record management in clinical settings.
  • Ability to follow clinical protocols, infection control standards, and ethical guidelines in tissue retrieval and handling.
  • Comfort with working in emotionally sensitive situations, demonstrating empathy, professionalism, and cultural sensitivity.
  • Basic computer proficiency and familiarity with hospital information systems or electronic medical records.
  • Diploma or degree in life sciences, nursing, allied health, social work, or related field; eye bank or tissue bank certification is an advantage.
  • Graduate in any field
