Extraction & Bioactives Process Lead (Botanical Scientific Pipeline Ownership)

We are building a botanical bioactives pipeline from the ground up, spanning cultivation, extraction, analytical profiling, and biological validation. This role will own the design and execution of the full scientific pipeline.

This is a botanicals-only, industry role. No students, no fresh graduates, and no purely academic profiles will be considered. Experience in animal feed, food processing, or general agri-commodities is not relevant and such profiles will be automatically rejected.

This is not a generic scientist position. It requires end-to-end ownership of how plant material is converted into reproducible, validated, and commercially relevant bioactive outputs.

Role Mandate

Design and own the full scientific pipeline for botanical bioactives, including definition of work packages, sequencing of activities, and integration across extraction, analytical profiling, and biological validation. Ensure all steps are aligned, reproducible, and decision-useful, with clear internal process ownership.

Core Responsibilities

• Design the full scientific pipeline from raw botanical material to validated bioactive outputs
• Define and structure work packages across extraction, analytical profiling, and biological validation
• Coordinate and integrate execution across technical nodes
• Define and refine extraction protocols within operational constraints
• Design low-energy extraction systems across polar and non-polar solvents
• Ensure batch reproducibility across variable plant materials
• Translate raw material variability into controlled, consistent outputs
• Integrate analytical and biological validation results into process optimisation
• Maintain rigorous process documentation, traceability, and decision logs
• Own the system as it evolves toward pilot-scale implementation

This Role Requires

• Strong systems-level understanding of plant chemistry and natural products
• Hands-on experience with botanical extraction systems
• Working knowledge of solvent systems (polar and non-polar)
• Ability to design scientific workflows and structure work packages
• Experience connecting extraction with analytical and biological validation
• Ability to interpret validation data in a process context
• Comfort working with variable, imperfect botanical inputs
• High process discipline and documentation capability
• Ability to operate independently with full ownership

Relevant Backgrounds (Only if Criteria Above Are Met)

• Natural products chemistry, phytochemistry, botany (with extraction exposure), chemical engineering, or bioprocess engineering
• Biotechnology, bioengineering, or biochemistry only if there is direct, hands-on experience with botanical extraction systems

Degree alone is not sufficient — applied extraction and process experience is mandatory

Ideal Profile

2–6 years of hands-on industry experience

Direct experience designing or managing extraction and validation workflows

Exposure to biological validation and ability to integrate outputs into process design

Clear systems-thinking mindset and ownership orientation

This is an early-stage role requiring building from first principles. There are no predefined systems. You will be expected to design, structure, and own the pipeline end-to-end. If your experience is limited to working within established frameworks without ownership of process design, this role is not suitable.
