Scope:
This individual defines the 3-to-5-year technical vision for the enterprise data platform, functioning as the ultimate technical authority for Snowflake across the organization.
The role involves driving enterprise-wide topology design, multi-region disaster recovery, and cross-organizational data monetization strategies.
The individual will partner directly with VPs, C-level executives, and external vendors to solve unprecedented scale and business challenges
Technical Environment:
Snowflake Platform Infrastructure: Multi-Cluster Warehouses, Resource Monitors, Storage & Compute Optimization, Time Travel, Fail-safe, Zero-Copy Cloning, Organization & Account Management, Replication Groups (DR).
Automation & Scripting: Python (REST API automation, platform health checks), SnowSQL, Shell Scripting (Strictly for user lifecycle and administrative automation).
Security & Identity Management: Hierarchical RBAC, SCIM Provisioning, SSO/SAML Integrations (Okta, Microsoft Entra ID), Network Policies (PrivateLink/VPC Endpoints), OAuth, Key Pair Authentication, Tri-Secret Secure.
Governance & Compliance: Dynamic Data Masking, Row Access Policies, Object Tagging (for compliance and cost allocation), Secure Data Sharing, routine Access History & Audit Logging (ISO 27001 compliance).
Observability & ITSM Integrations: Datadog, Splunk, PagerDuty, ServiceNow, Jira Service Management (ITIL incident, change, and problem management).
FinOps & Platform Resilience: Cross-Region Failover operations, automated chargeback reporting, predictive compute scaling, warehouse right-sizing, auto-suspend/resume policies.
DataOps & Infrastructure: Terraform (Infrastructure-as-Code), CI/CD pipelines for Snowflake object provisioning (GitHub Actions / GitLab), Git, 24x7 Shift Operations frameworks.
What you'll do:
Define the Enterprise Roadmap: Dictate the architectural future of the Snowflake platform. Design hyper-scale, cross-cloud failover strategies and determine when and how to adopt bleeding-edge features (e.g., SPCS, Cortex, Native Apps) securely.
Govern Executive FinOps: Own the platform's multi-million dollar compute budget. Design executive-level cost analytics and enforce strict financial governance. Lead contract renewals and capacity planning with Snowflake enterprise sales and TAMs.
Mandate Enterprise Security: Act as the ultimate authority on platform access. Design the overarching ABAC/RBAC philosophy, mandate Tri-Secret Secure protocols, and ensure the platform exceeds global regulatory compliance standards.
Lead the Platform CoE: Establish and lead the Snowflake Center of Excellence. Write the definitive enterprise standards for Infrastructure-as-Code (Terraform) deployments, API provisioning, and 24x7 operational playbooks.
Resolve L5 Critical Escalations: Step in as the final technical authority during catastrophic platform events (e.g., regional cloud infrastructure outages, zero-day security vulnerabilities, or complete failure of replication pipelines).
What we are looking for:
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, or a related technical field.
12 - 15 years of IT/Data experience, with 7+ years of Snowflake experience (operating at a petabyte-scale enterprise level).
Recognized industry expert with a track record of designing multi-cloud or multi-region data topologies.
Deep expertise in organizational FinOps strategies, legal data compliance boundaries, and executive technical communication.
Demonstrated ability to lead organizational transformations, moving legacy enterprise systems to modern, decoupled data lakehouse architectures.
Ready to support 24/7 including working in shifts
