Job Description

Overview

This role will lead end to end payroll for all South Asian countries.

The Payroll Associate Manager is responsible for overseeing end-to-end payroll operations, ensuring accurate and timely salary processing, statutory compliance, and effective payroll governance. The role acts as a critical bridge between employee, HR, Finance, and internal/external stakeholders to maintain payroll accuracy, compliance.


Responsibilities

  1. Payroll Operations Management
    1. Manage and oversee the complete payroll cycle (monthly/bi-weekly/off-cycle payrolls)
    2. Ensure accurate processing of salaries, benefits, deductions, and reimbursements
    3. Validate payroll inputs such as new hires, exits, promotions, and transfers
  2. Compliance & Statutory Governance
    1. Ensure adherence to payroll-related laws, tax regulations, and company policies
    2. Handle statutory filings, tax deductions, and regulatory reporting
    3. Maintain audit-ready payroll records and support internal/external audits
  3. Payroll Accuracy & Controls
    1. Review and reconcile payroll data before processing
    2. Identify and resolve discrepancies or payroll errors
    3. Maintain strong controls and audit trails to ensure compliance and accuracy
  4. Team Management & Leadership
    1. Lead and supervise payroll team members
    2. Provide training, coaching, and performance management
    3. Allocate workload and ensure timely delivery of payroll activities
  5. Stakeholder Collaboration
    1. Partner with HR, Finance, and Payroll partners for payroll inputs and system alignment
    2. Act as the primary contact for employee payroll queries and escalations
    3. Coordinate with external vendors, auditors, and tax authorities
  6. Reporting & Analytics
    1. Prepare payroll reports (monthly, quarterly, annual)
    2. Provide data for financial planning, audits, and leadership reviews
    3. Track payroll KPIs such as accuracy, timeliness, and compliance metrics
  7. Process Improvement & Systems
    1. Drive automation and process improvements in payroll operations
    2. Manage payroll systems, upgrades, and integrations
    3. Ensure data integrity across HRIS/payroll platforms


Qualifications

  • 10-12 years experience in HR Operations/Shared Services environment especially in Payroll
  • Experience in Global environment/Matrix organizations, living and working in several global locations
  • Able to accept and bring Change Management and Agility
  • Team management Scope and Scale
  • Must possess strong people management skills and have the ability to perform in an environment of ambiguity and make decisions within short timeframes
  • Demonstrated track record of strong service delivery
  • Bachelor's degree in HR, Finance, Accounting, or related field
  • Certifications (optional but preferred): Payroll Professional
