Summary

Position Summary

The Events Director will lead the regional Events strategy, revenue growth and hotel enablement agenda across India & SWA. The role will act as a strategic regional business partner, providing direction, tactical recommendations and performance insights to improve the financial, commercial and operational performance of Events across all brands.

The position will translate regional commercial priorities into practical actions for hotel Directors of Events and event teams. It will also serve as the liaison between the region and Global Events, ensuring that global initiatives are effectively localized, regionalized and activated in line with market dynamics, customer preferences and hotel operating realities.

The role will work closely with F&B, Commercial Performance, Sales, Revenue, Distribution, Analytics, Marketing, Brand and hotel leadership to identify innovative and commercially sound opportunities that improve Events revenue, conversion, profitability, guest satisfaction and customer engagement.

Regional Events Strategy and Strategic Leadership

  • Develop and implement the regional Events strategy across India and Southwest Asia.

  • Translate regional commercial priorities into practical actions for hotel Directors of Events and event teams.

  • Support the growth of Meetings, Incentives, Conferences and Events, social events, banquets and F&B-led occasions.

  • Assess market demand, customer trends, competitor activity and emerging event opportunities.

  • Provide strategic recommendations that strengthen Hyatt's competitive position and Events contribution.

Events Revenue, Profitability and Financial Performance

  • Identify opportunities to improve Events revenue, conversion, profitability, yield and space utilization.

  • Review pipeline value, lead quality, conversion ratios, lost business, sales cycle, demand periods and booking pace.

  • Partner with Sales and Revenue on pricing, packages, availability, displacement analysis and demand generation.

  • Review food cost, labour, setup, service and operational complexity as drivers of event profitability.

  • Provide input into budgets, forecasts, financial plans and business cases for Events initiatives.

Events Performance Enablement and Hotel Improvement

  • Analyse Events performance across the region and identify performance gaps and opportunities.

  • Support hotels in developing structured improvement plans.

  • Establish metrics, dashboards, scorecards and review routines covering revenue, conversion, profitability and customer satisfaction.

  • Provide guidance and best practices to improve conversion, profitability, consistency and guest experience.

  • Track action owners, timelines, benefits, risks and closure status.

Event Operating Standards and Operational Excellence

  • Support hotels in developing effective event-sales and event-operations plans.

  • Promote consistent event planning, conversion, execution, service delivery and post-event review practices.

  • Develop and maintain event playbooks, checklists, toolkits and operating standards.

  • Review the complete customer journey from enquiry and proposal through event delivery and follow-up.

  • Identify opportunities to improve customer experience, communication and service recovery.

  • Monitor event standards and support hotels in resolving operational barriers.

Commercial Services, Leadership and Key Events

  • Support internal Commercial Services meetings, divisional events and regional leadership forums.

  • Coordinate owner events, customer events, showcase events and strategic activations.

  • Support major regional launches, customer-engagement programmes and commercial events.

  • Ensure strategic events are well planned, commercially relevant, operationally successful and brand aligned.

  • Capture lessons learned and incorporate them into future planning and execution.

Talent Management: Oversee the recruitment, training, and development of culinary team across the region. This includes working with individual property to identify talent gaps and opportunities for training and development.

Brand Standards: Ensure that all event spaces in the region meet the brand's quality and service standards. This includes conducting regular audits and inspections, and working with respective hotels to address any issues.

Innovation and Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities for innovation and continuous improvement across Events operations in the region. This includes staying up-to-date with industry trends and best practices, and working with the food & beverage, culinary and commercial services team to implement new ideas and initiatives.

Qualifications

Experience

  • Minimum 8-10 years of progressive experience in hotel Events, meetings, banqueting, commercial, sales or F&B operations 10+ years preferred.

  • Experience in regional, multi-property or multi-market Events leadership.

  • Demonstrated success in improving Events revenue, profitability, conversion and customer satisfaction.

  • Strong knowledge of MICE, banqueting, weddings, social events and event-related F&B operations.

  • Experience with event pipelines, pricing, packages, availability, space utilization, conversion and profitability.

  • Experience developing operating standards, playbooks, toolkits and hotel improvement plans.

  • Experience localizing or activating global programmes across multiple markets.

  • Strong communication, analytical, project-management and stakeholder-management skills.

  • Creative, innovative, organized and results-oriented.

Education and Expertise (i.e. certificates, licenses, etc.)

  • Bachelor's degree in Hospitality Management, Business Administration, Events, Sales, Marketing or a related field.

  • Relevant postgraduate qualification preferred.

  • Event-management, project-management, hotel-management or commercial certifications advantageous.

  • Strong proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint, Word, reporting tools, collaboration platforms and business-intelligence systems.
