Job Description

Summary

The Event Sales Manager is a passionate and results-driven sales professional responsible for generating catering and event revenue through the solicitation, development, and management of new and existing client relationships. The ideal candidate is highly motivated, customer-focused, and skilled at building lasting partnerships while identifying opportunities to maximize revenue and exceed client expectations. Through strategic sales efforts, collaboration with operational teams, and a commitment to excellence, the Event Sales Manager contributes directly to the success of the Events Division and the overall business objectives of the resort.

Responsibilities

  • Solicit, negotiate, and secure new and repeat catering and event business to achieve established revenue goals.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients, event planners, business partners, and community contacts.
  • Entertain clients and conduct networking activities to generate new business opportunities.
  • Implement sales strategies that positively impact need periods and support overall revenue objectives.
  • Maintain a thorough understanding of market conditions, industry trends, and competitive activity.
  • Forecast business levels to maximize utilization of the resort's public meeting and event space.
  • Conduct site inspections and resort tours for prospective and existing clients.
  • Collaborate effectively with all resort departments to ensure seamless event execution and exceptional guest experiences.
  • Achieve a minimum of 90% of the assigned individual annual sales quota.
  • Attend and actively participate in departmental meetings, Daily Business Reviews (DBR), Event Order (EO), and Ten-Day Review meetings.
  • Identify, solicit, and secure new business opportunities through proactive sales efforts, networking, prospecting, and relationship-building activities.
  • Prepare and present customized proposals, contracts, and pricing packages that align with client needs and resort objectives.
  • Manage the sales process from initial inquiry through contract execution and event turnover.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for clients throughout the sales cycle to ensure a positive and professional experience.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with repeat clients to encourage retention and future business opportunities.
  • Conduct site visits, client presentations, and property tours to showcase resort facilities and services.
  • Negotiate event agreements while ensuring profitability and adherence to company standards and guidelines.
  • Monitor market trends, competitor activities, and customer preferences to identify opportunities for business growth.
  • Maintain accurate client records, sales activities, contracts, and forecasts within designated sales systems.
  • Collaborate with Event Planning, Food & Beverage, Operations, Revenue Management, and other departments to ensure seamless transition and execution of booked events.
  • Actively seek opportunities to upsell resort products, services, and enhancements to maximize revenue and elevate the guest experience.
  • Monitor and manage assigned accounts to ensure all contractual obligations and client expectations are fulfilled.
  • Participate in trade shows, industry events, community functions, and networking opportunities as directed.
  • Prepare sales reports, forecasts, and business updates for leadership review.
  • Support departmental initiatives, strategic goals, and revenue-generating activities established by the Events leadership team.

  • Perform other duties, responsibilities, projects, and assignments as directed by management to support the operational and business needs of the resort.

Qualifications

  • A genuine passion for hospitality and a strong desire to exceed guest and client expectations in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent verbal, written, presentation, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in general computer applications and business software.
  • Strong organizational, time-management, and multitasking abilities. Exceptional attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
  • Minimum of two years of hotel sales, catering sales, event sales, or related hospitality experience preferred, or successful completion of an Event Management Trainee Program.
  • Proven ability to build relationships, negotiate effectively, and achieve sales objectives.
  • Self-motivated with a results-oriented approach and a commitment to continuous improvement.
