We are currently seeking an experienced professional to join our team in the role of Senior Software Engineer.
The Opportunity
The requirement is for a Data Normalization/Transformation Senior Software Developer. Minimum 2 years Transformation development experience, plus minimum 2 years of hands on Xceptor/Transformers or other data normalization development, SQL and C# development experience. The ideal candidate will have experience working in Agile projects. The candidate will need to manage technical team development training in addition to QA/QC, support testing activities, senior stakeholder management, problem solving and investigation, development and implementation while complying with all relevant IT standards, regulations and policies.
In This Role, You Will
- Understand key business Transformation automation problems, user requirements and all available technical solutions in depth to identify the right technical solution and commence development.
- Build/upskill fellow team members capabilities by training and knowledge share on Xceptor/Transformers and strategic Reconciliation solution processes along with Business Solutions governance and best practice.
- Design and conduct system and unit testing, ensuring the system identified and solution developed can achieve the business automation goals.
- Participating in solution design reviews and provide input on requirements, product design, and potential problems.
- Support user acceptance test and release to production within demanding project timelines.
- Ensure the solutions will adhere to organizational standards, policies and practices.
- Actively control scope-change and escalate as appropriate to ensure delivery against agreed targets/functionality.
- Peer review team's development solutions including full documentation to make sure team delivers solutions best fit for the end user's requirement.
To be successful in this role, you should meet the following requirements:
- The role is a full stack engineer that has hands on experience in Xceptor, ETL Tools for Transformation/Data Normalization development or other languages eg C#, SQL, VBA.
- Minimum 2 years experience in Transformation development, requirements gathering, stakeholder management and testing, plus minimum 2 years experience in FTP options and other development eg MIM, SQL, API, C#.
- Proficient with manual and automated testing knowledge, up-to-date knowledge of software test design and testing methodologies, familiar with relevant testing tools.
- Familiar with or able to rapidly adapt to HSBC organizational policies, Business Solutions best practices, governance and standards.
- Proactive and willing to learn new technologies, e.g. C#, Groovy, Java.
- Proven ability to fully document solution design and detail to the level others can develop further on the build/solution.
- Identify multiple possible approaches for problems statement and assess their relative cost/benefit and risks.
- Good communication (verbal and written) and interpersonal skills.
Good To Have
- Hands on experience with VB.NET, Microsoft Excel, Access, designing strategic solutions at a strong level. Knowledge of other technologies and development toolsets an advantage.
- Knowledge of cloud based development, experience in micro services.
- Knowledge in securities services, capital market, financial products or post trade processing is a plus.
- Familiarity with development best practices including unit testing & source control (knowledge of GitHub and Jira would be a plus).
- Other technical skills can be advantageous but are not essential namely Continuous Integration, Jenkins, Ansible, Sonar, Selenium, Scala, Kotlin.
