Role Description

• Our Home Loan Savings teams at Deutsche Bank - Private Bank (TDI) develop and maintain applications for home loan savings business of Private Customers (BHW). Changes are implemented on time to market challenges as well as on development of the application landscape by using Google Cloud technology.
• We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior ETL / Big Data Developer to join our dynamic team. This role is crucial for designing, developing, and maintaining our large-scale data processing pipelines and platforms. The ideal candidate will possess deep expertise in ETL methodologies, extensive experience with Hadoop ecosystem technologies, and strong programming skills in Scala. You will be instrumental in building high-performance, fault-tolerant, and scalable data solutions that support various analytical and operational needs across Deutsche Bank.

Your key responsibilities

• ETL Design & Development
  • Design, develop, and implement robust, scalable, and efficient ETL processes for ingesting, transforming, and loading large datasets from diverse sources into our data platforms.
  • Work with business analysts and data architects to understand data requirements and translate them into technical specifications and data models.
  • Optimize ETL jobs for performance, scalability, and data quality.
• ServiceNow Know-How
  • Utilize ServiceNow for effective incident management, problem management, and change management processes.
  • Create, track, and resolve tickets (incidents, requests, problems, changes) within the ServiceNow platform.
  • Understand and adhere to ITIL processes as implemented within Deutsche Bank's ServiceNow environment.
• Big Data Engineering (Hadoop Ecosystem)
  • Develop and maintain data pipelines using various components of the Hadoop ecosystem (e.g., HDFS, Spark, Hive, Impala, Kafka, Oozie).
  • Leverage Spark (with Scala) for complex data transformations, aggregations, and analytical computations.
  • Monitor and troubleshoot Big Data jobs and infrastructure.
• Scala Development
  • Write clean, efficient, and well-tested code in Scala for data processing applications, Spark jobs, and custom utilities.
  • Apply functional programming principles to build robust and maintainable data solutions.
• Data Quality & Governance
  • Implement data quality checks and validation rules within ETL processes.
  • Ensure adherence to data governance policies, security standards, and regulatory requirements.
• Collaboration & Communication
  • Work effectively within a global team environment, collaborating with cross-functional teams and other stakeholders.
  • Communicate complex technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.

Your skills and experience

• 5-8 years of hands-on experiencein data engineering, ETL development, or Big Data role.
• Proficiency with ServiceNow for Incident, Problem, and Change Management.
• Expert-level proficiency in Scala programming languagefor data processing.
• Extensive hands-on experience with the Hadoop ecosystem, including HDFS, Spark (Spark SQL, Spark Streaming), Hive.
• Solid experience in designing and implementingcomplex ETL processesfor large-scale data environments.
• Proficiency inSQLfor data manipulation and analysis.

Desirable Skills and Experience (Bonus Points)

• Experience with other programming languages like Python.
• Knowledge of cloud-based Big Data services (e.g., Google Cloud Dataproc).
• Familiarity with NoSQL databases (e.g., HBase, Cassandra, MongoDB).
• Knowledge of data governance frameworks and tools.
• Experience in the financial services industry, particularly with regulatory reporting or risk data.

Education

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
