Role: ESW Developer/Architect – MCU (Motor Control Unit)
Embedded Software Developer/Architect – MCU is responsible to design, develop, and optimize software for Motor Control Units used in electric drive systems. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in embedded C/C++, motor control algorithms, power electronics, and realtime system development. This role involves working closely with hardware, firmware, and control engineering teams to deliver highperformance and reliable motor control software.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and optimize embedded software for Motor Control Units (MCU) using C/C++.
- Implement and refine motor control algorithms such as FOC (Field-Oriented Control), SVPWM, torque control, and other control techniques.
- Develop realtime control loops for BLDC, PMSM, or induction motors.
- Integrate software with microcontrollers, DSPs, and power electronics modules.
- Design modular, scalable software architecture for motor control systems.
- Integrate peripherals such as ADCs, PWMs, timers, CAN, SPI, I2C, UART.
- Work closely with hardware engineers for board bringup and troubleshooting.
- Create technical documentation including design specifications, test plans, and release notes.
- Ensure compliance with automotive or industrial standards (e.g., ISO 26262, MISRA C, IEC 61508).
Qualifications
- Master's or Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, Control Systems, Mechatronics, or related discipline.
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, Embed Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, Embedded Systems, Mechatronics, or related field.
- 3–10 years experience in embedded software development.
- Strong proficiency in C/C++, embedded RTOS, and realtime programming.
- Experience with motor control algorithms (FOC, SVPWM, PID tuning).
- Handson experience with ARM CortexM, TI C2000, NXP, or similar MCUs/DSPs.
- Proficient with debugging tools (JTAG/SWD, oscilloscopes, logic analyzers).
- Deep understanding of electric motors (BLDC, PMSM, Induction) and power electronics.
- Knowledge of ISO 26262 Functional Safety and experience designing ASIL C/D compliant algorithms.
- Experience with model-based design (e.g. MATLAB/Simulink).
- Familiarity with vehicle communication protocols (CAN, Ethernet etc.) and integration with vehicle control units.
- Solid understanding of state estimation, sensor fusion, and control theory.
- Experience with EV traction inverters, e-axle systems, or high-power motor drives.
- Exposure to HIL/SIL testing and embedded control hardware validation.
- Knowledge of regenerative braking, torque vectoring, and efficiency optimization techniques.
- Familiarity with AI/ML applications in motor control (predictive control, anomaly detection).
- Strong analytical and system-level thinking capabilities.
- Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.
- Leadership and mentoring ability for algorithm development teams.
- Passion for electrification, automotive innovation, and high-performance control systems.
