Estimation Engineer determines the projected costs of labor, materials, and equipment for engineering and construction projects. They analyze project blueprints, solicit vendor quotes, and prepare competitive bids to ensure projects remain profitable, technically viable, and within budget.Key ResponsibilitiesCost & Material Analysis: Calculate material quantities (take-offs), labor hours, and machinery costs required to complete engineering projects.Proposal & Bid Preparation: Draft comprehensive technical and commercial proposals based on client requests (RFQs) and specifications.Vendor & Subcontractor Coordination: Evaluate and negotiate vendor proposals to ensure competitive pricing for bought-out items.Value Engineering: Analyze project requirements to propose cost-effective alternatives and optimize design or material usage.Budget Tracking: Maintain databases of previous costing data, monitor project budgets, and assist in reporting cost variances.Required Skills & QualificationsTechnical Knowledge: Strong ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, schematics, and technical specifications.Software Proficiency: Advanced command of MS Excel, and industry-specific tools like AutoCAD or specialized estimating software (e.g., Aspen CCE).Analytical Skills: Solid understanding of cost estimating techniques, cost-control systems, and market trends.Communication: Excellent negotiation skills and the ability to clearly present cost breakdowns to company leadership and client
