Job Description

Position: Estate Manager (The Administrator & Planner)

Department: Estate

Reporting To: Management / Business Owner

Location: Farm / Estate

Experience: 5–10 years preferred

Job Purpose

To manage the overall day-to-day operations of the agricultural estate, including manpower, procurement, logistics, machinery, inventory, budgets, cultivation schedules and operational reporting, ensuring timely and cost-effective execution of farm activities.

Key Responsibilities

1. Estate Operations

  • Manage day-to-day operations of the farm/estate.
  • Ensure timely execution of land preparation, planting, irrigation, fertilization, harvesting and other farm activities.
  • Coordinate with the Agronomist and Field Manager for implementation of technical recommendations.

2. Procurement & Logistics

  • Source and procure vermicompost, fertilizers, seeds/cuttings, irrigation materials, fuel and other farm requirements.
  • Ensure timely availability of materials before planting, fertilization and harvesting cycles.
  • Maintain vendor relationships and procurement records.

3. Budget & Cost Control

  • Prepare and monitor farm operating budgets.
  • Track cost per acre for land preparation and cultivation.
  • Monitor fuel consumption, machinery expenses and other operational costs.
  • Identify opportunities for cost optimization.

4. Machinery & Infrastructure

  • Coordinate deployment and maintenance of tractors, JCBs and other farm machinery.
  • Ensure preventive maintenance and proper utilization of equipment.
  • Coordinate with irrigation and infrastructure teams for timely repairs and maintenance.

5. Manpower Management

  • Plan and allocate manpower according to farm requirements.
  • Supervise field staff through the Field Manager.
  • Maintain attendance, work allocation and employment-related records.
  • Ensure discipline and productivity of field personnel.

6. Inventory Management

  • Maintain records of fertilizers, vermicompost, fuel, irrigation components and other materials.
  • Monitor stock levels and prevent shortages or unnecessary accumulation.

7. Reporting & Compliance

  • Prepare weekly/monthly operational and progress reports for management.
  • Track acreage, cultivation activities, expenditure, manpower and productivity.
  • Act as the primary coordination point between management and field operations.

Qualification

Essential:

  • B.Sc. / B.Sc. (Hons.) in Agriculture, Horticulture, Agribusiness or a related discipline.

OR

  • Bachelor's degree in Management / Rural Management / Farm Management with substantial experience in agricultural estate operations.

Preferred:

  • M.Sc. Agriculture / Agribusiness / MBA in Agribusiness or related qualification.
  • Diploma/degree in Farm Management can be considered for candidates with strong practical estate-management experience.
