We are seeking a diligent and insightful Buy-Side Analyst to join our Asia Equity Research team. You will be responsible for conducting in-depth fundamental research on companies across sectors in Asian markets, with a focus on industrial, energy, and consumer companies; developing comprehensive investment theses; and providing high-conviction investment recommendations to our internal stakeholders, in particular portfolio managers and advisors. Some expertise to the technology sector and its major companies would be beneficial.
Your role
- Fundamental research: Perform deep-dive research into companies, industries, and macroeconomic trends to identify mispriced securities; initial focus on Industrial and Consumer companies.
- Financial modelling: Build and maintain complex, dynamic financial models to forecast future earnings and returns.
- Investment recommendations: Author investment memos and deliver actionable recommendations to Pictet Wealth Management.
- Due diligence: Conduct management interviews, attend industry conferences, and interact with sell-side analysts to gather proprietary insights.
- AI-augmented research: Design and apply AI-driven tools and workflows to accelerate idea generation, enhance pattern detection, and increase the agility and scalability of fundamental research.
Your profile
- Experience: At least 6 years of equity research experience on the buy side or sell side, ideally with multi-sector coverage; prior exposure to a leading financial institution is a strong plus.
- Language skills: Excellent command of written and spoken English (native or equivalent) and fluent or better command of written and spoken Mandarin as the role requires frequent research and communication involving Chinese companies and Mandarin-language sources
- Research & Analytical Skills: Strong fundamental equity research capabilities with excellent quantitative (but non-quant) skills, and a first-principles-based approach to analysis and communication.
- Communication & Presentation Skills: Outstanding written communication skills (investment memos, research notes) and excellent presentation skills to convey complex ideas clearly and convincingly.
- IT & Tools proficiency: Complete proficiency in Bloomberg (terminal and Excel API), Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint; solid working knowledge of VBA.
- AI proficiency: Confident and effective user of AI tools (e.g. ChatGPT, Claude and similar applications) to enhance research productivity, insight generation and workflow efficiency.
- Personal qualities: Independent-minded, intuitive, self-starter personality with a strong sense of ownership and accountability, while being a team player.
- Results orientation: Strong focus on delivering high-quality, actionable outputs and meeting results-based expectations in a demanding investment environment.
