Job Description

CDM Smith is looking for an Entry Marketing and Communications Specialist.

As a member of the CDM Smith team, you would contribute to our mission by:

  • Writing and editing copy of basic complexity for a variety of channels, including website, social media, email, intranet site, events, and resumes.
  • Frequently communicating with employees throughout the resume writing process, including answering any questions or following up on their resumes.
  • Conducting interviews with employees to gather information about their work experience, education, skills, and other qualifications to create a tailored resume that best highlights their capabilities.
  • Conducting research (Ex: market research, best practices, etc.) to assist in the development of communications materials.
  • Reviewing requests for proposals provided by clients to ensure the resume is tailored for the project role.
  • Collaborating with technical experts and proposal writers to create effective resumes.
  • Reviewing content for spelling, grammar, punctuation, and formatting errors.

Minimum Qualifications


  • Bachelor's degree
  • 1+ years of related experience

Preferred Qualifications


  • BA or BS in Communications, Marketing, Business, Journalism, or related degree
  • A strong command of Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Excellent command of grammar and spelling
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills
  • The ability to work as a contributing member of the team
  • The ability to work and meet deadlines under rigid time constraints
  • The ability to work beyond the standard scheduled workday or workweek

Background Check and Drug Testing Information

CDM Smith Inc. and its divisions and subsidiaries (hereafter collectively referred to as CDM Smith) reserves the right to require background checks including criminal, employment, education, licensure, etc. as well as credit and motor vehicle when applicable for certain positions. In addition, CDM Smith may conduct drug testing for designated positions. Background checks are conducted after an offer of employment has been made in the United States. The timing of when background checks will be conducted on candidates for positions outside the United States will vary based on country statutory law but in no case, will the background check precede an interview. CDM Smith will conduct interviews of qualified individuals prior to requesting a criminal background check, and no job application submitted prior to such interview shall inquire into an applicant's criminal history. If this position is subject to a background check for any convictions related to its responsibilities and requirements, employment will be contingent upon successful completion of a background investigation including criminal history. Criminal history will not automatically disqualify a candidate. In addition, during employment individuals may be required by CDM Smith or a CDM Smith client to successfully complete additional background checks, including motor vehicle record as well as drug testing.
