Job Description

Key Responsibilities

1. Clinical Responsibilities

  • Diagnose and manage ENT conditions:
  • Otologic (e.g., hearing loss, otitis media, tinnitus)
  • Rhinologic (e.g., sinusitis, nasal polyps, deviated septum)
  • Laryngologic (e.g., hoarseness, voice disorders, throat infections)
  • Head and neck (e.g., tumors, thyroid issues, salivary gland diseases)
  • Perform outpatient consultations and follow-ups.
  • Conduct and interpret audiological and endoscopic evaluations.
  • Perform ENT surgeries such as:
  • Tonsillectomy, adenoidectomy
  • Tympanoplasty, mastoidectomy
  • FESS (Functional Endoscopic Sinus Surgery)
  • Septoplasty, tracheostomy
  • Collaborate with audiologists, speech therapists, radiologists, and oncologists.

2. Teaching & Academic Responsibilities(If in Medical Colleges)

  • Deliver lectures, bedside teaching, and practical training for MBBS, MS/DNB (ENT) students.
  • Supervise residents in outpatient, inpatient, and OT settings.
  • Prepare teaching materials and evaluate students (written and practical exams).
  • Guide thesis work and research projects for postgraduates.

3. Research & Publications

  • Participate in clinical research projects related to ENT disorders or surgical innovation.
  • Present findings at ENT conferences or CME events.
  • Publish in indexed journals (national or international).

4. Administrative & Quality Assurance

  • Maintain accurate medical records and surgical logs.
  • Participate in hospital infection control and safety committees.
  • Help develop standard operating procedures (SOPs) and clinical protocols.
  • Support the planning of ENT camps, awareness programs, or outreach activities.

Qualifications

Essential:

  • MBBS + MS / DNB in ENT (Otorhinolaryngology)
  • Valid registration with Medical Council (State/National)

Desirable:

  • Fellowship or subspecialty training (e.g., Otology, Rhinology, Laryngology, Head & Neck Oncology)
  • Experience in endoscopic and microscopic ENT surgeries
  • Prior teaching experience in medical institutions

Skills & Competencies

  • Proficiency in ENT examination, endoscopy, and microsurgical techniques
  • Strong diagnostic and decision-making ability
  • Excellent communication and patient education skills
  • Teaching and mentoring capability (for academic positions)
  • Teamwork with multidisciplinary units (audiology, radiology, oncology, etc.)
  • Familiarity with EMR systems, surgical equipment, and operating room protocols
