IELTS Trainer — Freelance, Online

CLBS Institute (Catalyst Learning by Sanchita) Institute is a boutique test-prep and study-abroad consultancy. We work one-to-one with students preparing for IELTS, PTE, TOEFL and the Duolingo English Test, and applying to universities in the UK, US, Singapore and Australia. We keep numbers small, diagnose each student's weakest skill first, and teach to that.

The role

You will teach one-to-one online sessions, mostly IELTS and TOEFL. Our standard course is 16 sessions, delivered in four modules of four. You prepare your own session material, teach on Zoom or Google Meet with your camera on, and set homework on our practice portal after every class.

Responsibilities

Deliver one-to-one live sessions in Listening, Reading, Writing and Speaking
Run live Speaking mocks and mark Writing against the official band descriptors, within 48 hours
Assign and review portal homework for every student, without exception
Give students specific, targeted feedback rather than general advice
Run demo sessions for prospective students, following our demo structure
Keep a simple session log so we can track progress

What we are looking for

At least two years teaching IELTS, with evidence of students reaching their target bands
Accurate band scoring: you can mark a Writing task or Speaking response and explain the score against the descriptors
Interactive teaching. Our sessions are a conversation, not a presentation
A reliable laptop, webcam and stable internet. Phone-based teaching is not possible for this role
Comfortable with online portals and screen sharing
Experience with PTE, TOEFL or DET is an advantage

Hours

Freelance, online, on a fixed weekly slot in IST. Evenings and weekends are our busiest times.

A short screening call, then a recorded 35-minute session with a live teaching task. No take-home assignments.
