Job Description

A specialised education staffing partner serving international K-12 schools across India. We recruit academic leaders and Heads of Department who deliver high-quality English programmes across PYP, IGCSE and IBDP curricula. This role leads curriculum design, assessment integrity and teacher development across Primary and Secondary phases.

Primary Title: Head of English (English HOD IB PYP, IGCSE, IBDP)

Role & Responsibilities

  • Lead the design, implementation and vertical articulation of the English curriculum across PYP, IGCSE and IBDP, ensuring coherent progression and alignment with assessment standards.
  • Develop unit plans, scope-and-sequence documents and curriculum maps; ensure consistent pedagogical approaches and high-quality planning across phases.
  • Drive assessment strategy: design formative and summative assessments, manage internal moderation, and prepare students and teachers for IGCSE and IB examinations.
  • Coach, mentor and appraise English teachers; deliver targeted professional development and classroom observation cycles to raise instructional quality.
  • Analyse student performance data to identify gaps, implement intervention plans and report outcomes to school leadership and stakeholders.
  • Manage departmental resources, timetabling for English provision, recruitment of teaching staff and liaison with senior leadership on strategic priorities.

Skills & QualificationsMust-Have

  • Deep familiarity with IB PYP frameworks and practices
  • Working knowledge of Cambridge IGCSE English syllabuses
  • Working knowledge of IB Diploma Programme Language A specifications
  • Curriculum mapping and unit planning expertise across multiple programmes
  • Assessment design and internal moderation experience
  • Experience leading teacher coaching and professional development

Preferred

  • Prior leadership experience in an international school environment
  • Experience with English A: Literature and Language & Literature pedagogy
