The Mass Affluent and High Net Worth Growth Crew is a cross-functional team within CBA's Wealth & Private domain, dedicated to delivering Australia's leading digital wealth proposition for mass affluent and high net worth customers. Our purpose is to empower customers to manage, grow and protect their wealth with confidence, combining innovative technology, deep customer insight and seamless digital experiences. Our unique Customer Value Proposition positions CBA as the only bank offering an integrated Self-Managed Super Fund (SMSF) solution that brings investing and administration together within the CommBank app.

We plan to deliver AI-powered experiences, automated administration, portfolio tracking and benchmarking, exclusive pricing and access to partner discounts, all designed to simplify wealth management and help customers achieve their financial goals. By leveraging our diverse team, modern engineering practices and a relentless focus on customer outcomes, we're redefining what's possible in banking and investing for Australia's mass affluent segment.

Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Play a key leadership role within the Crew, supporting the Crew Tech Lead and gaining exposure to strategic decision-making and opportunities to lead cross-crew technology initiatives

  • Build, lead and inspire a high-performing, diverse team of engineers with a strong product mindset and full-cycle engineering capabilities

  • Drive innovation and experimentation through product engineering leveraging the latest AI powered engineering tooling

Essential Skills:

  • Overall 18+ years of experience in IT

  • Front-end expertise: Demonstrated, hands-on experience building and maintaining modern web applications using React and/or Angular. Deep understanding of JavaScript/TypeScript, component-based architecture, state management (e.g. Redux, Context API), responsive and accessible design, and automated testing frameworks. Experience with design systems and delivering high-quality, customer-centric user experiences at scale

  • Back-end development: Proven ability to design, build and optimise scalable, secure services and APIs using .NET (C#/.NET Core), including robust database design (SQL/NoSQL), integration patterns, performance tuning and implementation of secure, well-structured RESTful and/or GraphQL endpoints. Experience with cloud-native patterns (preferably AWS), microservices and event-driven architectures is highly valued

  • Full-Stack delivery: Demonstrated capability to deliver end-to-end solutions by integrating frontend and backend layers, managing CI/CD pipelines (e.g. GitHub Actions), applying best-practice automated testing (unit, integration, E2E) and collaborating across disciplines (product, design, quality engineering, SRE) to ship robust, customer-facing features from concept to production. Familiarity with DevSecOps, infrastructure-as-code, and foundational SRE practices is highly regarded

  • Big Data: Practical experience developing and maintaining scalable data processing workloads on AWS using technologies like EMR, Glue, Kinesis/Flink and related services and experience with data modelling and data governance. Strong knowledge of distributed systems patterns, e.g. streaming, batch, partitioning, fault tolerance, and the ability to embed these into secure, observable, cloud-native architectures. Familiarity with automating orchestration, CI/CD for data pipelines and applying performance and cost-optimisation best practices is highly regarded.

Education Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree or master's degree in engineering in Computer Science/Information Technology.
