Engineering Research Intern

Role Description:

This is a full-time, on-site internship role for an R&D Engineering Intern at Mechinex Automation Private Limited, Coimbatore.

The intern will work closely with the core engineering and founding team on applied research and development activities, with a strong focus on:

• Understanding technical research papers
• Translating research into engineering insights
• Supporting patent drafting and IP development

This role is suited for candidates who enjoy thinking deeply, reading technical material, and connecting theory to real machines.

Stipend: 8,000 12,000 per month (Based on skills)

Duration: 6 Months

Qualifications:

• Pursuing or completed a degree in Mechanical / Mechatronics / Manufacturing / Robotics / Controls Engineering or related fields
• Strong ability to read and comprehend technical papers
• Good fundamentals in engineering mathematics, physics, or system modeling
• Curiosity to understand how machines, algorithms, and processes actually work
• Ability to work independently and communicate ideas clearly
• Prior exposure to CNC, manufacturing processes, or control systems is a plus

Responsibilities

• Study and analyze technical research papers, patents, and whitepapers relevant to CNC and manufacturing systems
• Summarize research findings into clear technical notes for internal use
• Assist in prior-art research and patent/IP documentation
• Support R&D teams by mapping research concepts to practical engineering problems
• Participate in technical discussions and reviews with engineers and founders
• Help build internal documentation and knowledge repositories

Important Note

This is a research-intensive role.
