As Director of Engineering, you will report directly to the CTO and lead our Bangalore-based engineering team to deliver world-class SaaS at scale. You will be hands-on, guiding architectural decisions, writing critical code, and mentoring engineers while building a high-performing culture that embraces AI-driven productivity.
Responsibilities
- Lead the end-to-end engineering strategy, execution, and delivery of the SaaS platform.
- Institutionalise AI-driven development practices and measure productivity gains (lead time, change failure rate, MTTR, cost/latency per feature).
- Oversee and mentor cross-functional engineering teams (Backend, Frontend, QA, DevOps, Data).
- Define and enforce SDLC and SRE standards: CI/CD, IaC (Terraform/CDK), OpenTelemetry, SLOs.
- Build automation pipelines via GitHub Actions, ChatOps/Slack bots, and guarded prompts.
- Deliver secure, scalable multi-tenant SaaS systems with schema-per-tenant/RLS.
- Ensure SOC 2/GDPR compliance across all engineering practices.
- Hire, retain, and grow top-tier engineering talent.
Requirements
- MS in Computer Science/Engineering (mandatory).
- 15+ years in software engineering, with 5+ years in engineering leadership roles in SaaS startups.
- Proven delivery of high-throughput, secure, multi-tenant SaaS on AWS.
- Hands-on with Node.js/NestJS, Python/FastAPI, Aurora Postgres (+pgvector), S3, Redis/SQS, OpenSearch, API Gateway, ECS/EKS.
- Strong expertise in cloud security architecture (SOC 2, GDPR, tenant isolation).
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- AWS Solutions Architect certification.
- Prior experience introducing AI copilots/agents into engineering workflows safely and measurably.
