About the Role
As Engineering Manager – Data and Platform Engineering at Nuaav, you will lead a talented team of data engineers focused on architecting and delivering enterprise-grade, scalable data platforms for our clients. You will own technical delivery end-to-end, from architecture and design through implementation, deployment, and operationalization, across engagements that may span any major cloud (AWS, Azure, or GCP) and a modern data, AI, and application technology stack. This is a hands-on leadership role. You will set technical direction, grow a high-performing team, and remain the single point of accountability for planning, delivery, and stakeholder communication.
Responsibilities:-
- Lead, mentor, and grow high-performing engineering teams delivering next-generation data solutions.
- Architect and oversee the design & development of scalable data pipelines and analytics platforms on any major cloud.
- Guide the design of data lakehouse / warehouse / mesh patterns, semantic layers, and query optimization.
- Oversee design and operation of REST (and equivalent) APIs at scale: versioning, auth, rate limits, pagination, contract discipline, and observability.
- Drive AI-native capabilities like LLM/RAG integration and natural language querying with an evaluation framework.
- Enforce high standards for data quality, consistency, performance, scalability, governance, and security across data systems.
- Establish and enforce CI/CD, version control, testing, IaC, and deployment best practices for pipelines, APIs, and platform configurations.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with product managers, software engineers, data scientists, and analysts to enable business insights and ML initiatives.
- Oversee technical documentation, onboarding, and process compliance within the engineering team.
- Lead regular internal standups, meetings with customer stakeholders, internal leadership teams.
- Remain the single point of contact for all planning, delivery, communication pertaining to the projects and programs assigned.
- Support pre-sales activities like scoping, designing the solution, drawing delivery plan, and customer presentation.
- Stay abreast of industry trends in data engineering, cloud technologies, and AI advancements to maintain cutting-edge capabilities.
Qualifications :-
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
- 5+ years data engineering experience with significant team leadership or management exposure.
- Strong expertise as Engineering Manager with designing and building cloud data solutions.
- Advanced Python skills for data transformation, automation, and pipeline development (including PySpark).
- Solid SQL skills; experience with big data tools like Spark, Hive, or Scala is a plus.
- Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines, DevOps practices, and Infrastructure-as-Code (Terraform, GitHub Actions).
- Experience with data security, governance, and compliance frameworks in cloud environments.
- Consulting or client-facing delivery experience in agile environments, managing multiple workstreams concurrently.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and engineering management capabilities.
Required Skills :-
- Open table formats in production: Apache Iceberg, Delta Lake, or Apache Hudi, with object-storage and file-format fluency (Parquet).
- Real-time event streaming with Kafka, Kinesis, Pulsar, or equivalent: partitioning, ordering/delivery guarantees, schema evolution, and back-pressure.
- In-memory caching (Redis, Memcached, or equivalent): cache keys, TTLs, invalidation, hot-key mitigation, and consistency trade-offs.
- Data lineage, cataloguing, and governance tooling (DataHub, OpenMetadata, Collibra, Alation, Unity Catalog, AWS Glue Data Catalog, Apache Atlas, or equivalent).
- Entity resolution / record linkage via tools such as Zingg, Splink, Senzing, or cloud-native services.
- Multi-tenant SaaS data platform experience, especially around purpose-of-use controls and regulated workloads (e.g., SOC 2).
- Container technologies and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes).
- BI tooling (Power BI or similar) connecting to Lakehouse/warehouse platforms.
