Engineering Manager - NPD
The leader is responsible for overseeing the entire product development lifecycle, from initial concept to market launch, lead cross-functional teams, ensuring products meet quality standards, and analyze market trends and customer needs. This role requires strong leadership, technical expertise, and a proven track record in product development, ideally within the consumer electronics sector.
Key Responsibilities:
- The NPD Leader guides and motivates engineers, designers, marketers, and other stakeholders throughout the development process.
- They work closely with stakeholders to define product requirements, features, and performance standards.
- Ensuring that projects stay on schedule and within budget, while also managing resources effectively.
- Overseeing testing and ensuring that products meet quality standards and regulatory requirements.
- Analyzing market trends, competitor products, and customer needs to inform product development decisions.
- Leading the development and testing of prototypes to validate product designs and functionality.
- Tracking product performance after launch, gathering customer feedback, and using this information to inform future product iterations.
- Driving product innovation, exploring new technologies and features, and developing a pipeline of potential new products.
- Working with suppliers to ensure timely delivery of high-quality components.
- Analyzing the cost of developing new products and managing the budget effectively.
Experience and Skill:
- Experience in leading cross-functional teams and motivating individuals to achieve common goals.
- A strong understanding of consumer electronics products, technologies, and manufacturing processes.
- Experience with project management methodologies (e.g., Agile, Stage-Gate).
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with diverse teams.
- Ability to analyze market trends, identify problems, and develop solutions.
- Experience in making sound decisions based on data and market insights.
- A deep understanding of the consumer electronics industry, including market trends, competitive landscapes, and customer preferences is a must
- Experience with the full product development lifecycle, from concept to production and market release.
- Bachelor's degree in engineering, preferably in Electronics or Mechatronics
- 15+ years of experience in product development, out of which 10 years in consumer electronics.
- Ensuring products meet all relevant industry standards and regulatory requirements, such as EMI/EMC standards, safety regulations, and environmental considerations.
- Hands-on experience in Electronics Hardware Schematic/ PCB Layout design / Testing and Validation.
- Good working knowledge on Electronics hardware including PCB Design & interface, Mechanical design and Embedded software
- Experience in IT peripherals, wearables, Retail solutions for Indian market is desirable
