We seek an EM or Sr EM to join Loco's engineering organisation. As a hands-on people leader, you will own the charter of many backend web applications that drive user growth and revenue across multiple international markets. Your design, architecture, and people management expertise will help us scale our technology, which powers industry-defining mobile applications that cater to millions of users and live streamers worldwide. Our EMs and Sr EMs work directly with product managers and business leaders, with minimal hierarchical overhead, to understand key business goals, design the technology strategy, and take accountability for moving key business metrics. They are also responsible for driving technical innovations and agile methodologies while maintaining a clear focus on the big picture.
The ideal candidate will have demonstrated consistent growth in software engineering roles within consumer Internet or SaaS companies, with increasing ownership of large-scale software delivery and people management responsibilities year on year.
Responsibilities

Requirements
- 10+ years of experience in software development, with a recent 3+ years in engineering management leading teams of 15 or more backend engineers.
- 7+ years of experience as a technical lead or staff engineer, developing consumer-facing web services or web applications in Python, Go, Node.js, or Java on the cloud.
- Excellent knowledge of microservices design, event-oriented architecture, distributed design patterns, and a proven track record of implementing highly scalable and fault-tolerant web applications catering to millions of end users.
- Sound understanding of SQL databases like MySQL or PostgreSQL and NoSQL databases like Cassandra and MongoDB.
- Extensive usage of brokers, caching, and search technologies like Kafka/Pulsar, Redis, or Elasticsearch.
- Experience with API integrations and in-depth understanding of OAuth 2.0 SSO and OIDC.
- Experience running containerised workloads on Kubernetes or OpenShift.
- Bachelor's or master's in computer science or related fields of engineering.
Bonus Points For
- Experience using Observability, Telemetry, and Cloud Security tools like ELK stack, Datadog, Dynatrace, Prometheus, Snyk, etc.
- Experience with OTT, live streaming technologies, and protocols.
