Job Description

We are seeking a hands-on Engineering Leader to own the delivery, culture, and operational success of a key engineering vertical. This role owns team effectiveness, technical execution, and platform health, while partnering closely with Product and Platform leaders to deliver business outcomes at scale.

What you'll do

  • Manage Engineering Teams: Manage multiple pods. Coach senior engineers, develop future leaders, and ensure the team scales without losing delivery predictability or engineering quality.
  • Own delivery with business alignment: Partner with Product and Design to translate business goals into an executable technical roadmap. Balance feature delivery, platform evolution, and technical debt in a way that improves customer and revenue outcomes, not just sprint metrics.
  • Institutionalise an AI-native SDLC: Make AI part of how engineering work gets done. Standardise the use of AI for code reviews, test generation, documentation updates, and incident analysis so developers spend more time on system design and complex problem-solving.
  • Drive platform and multi-tenancy excellence: Own the engineering outcomes of a multi-tenant platform, including data isolation, noisy neighbour mitigation, scalability, and reliability. Work with Staff Engineers to evolve tenancy models as scale and customer complexity grow.
  • Lead cloud migration with architectural intent: Own the engineering execution of cloud-to-cloud migrations in partnership with Platform and DevOps teams. Ensure service parity, data integrity, minimal downtime, and real architectural improvements instead of lift-and-shift rewrites.
  • Operate with cost and reliability in mind: Treat infrastructure cost and availability as first-class product metrics. Partner with DevOps and Finance to improve unit economics through rightsizing, architectural changes, and informed trade-offs.
  • Build a high-performance engineering culture: Create an environment that values code quality, automation, and psychological safety. Shift the team from output-driven execution to outcome-driven delivery using CI/CD, observability, and continuous improvement.
  • Continuously improve engineering operations: Remove friction from the development lifecycle. Improve CI/CD pipelines, release practices, and on-call health to sustain high developer velocity without burnout.

Requirements

  • Experience: 10+ years in software engineering with significant recent experience building scalable SaaS products (Web).
  • SaaS and multi-tenant systems: Strong experience building and operating multi-tenant SaaS platforms at scale, including handling data isolation, performance variability, and frequent release cycles.
  • System and platform thinking: Hands-on experience designing distributed systems and container orchestration. Comfortable making trade-offs across scalability, reliability, and developer productivity.
  • Cloud-native execution:> Strong working knowledge of AWS or equivalent cloud platforms, including scaling strategies, resilience patterns, and cost optimisation.
  • Cloud migration experience: Experience leading or playing a key role in cloud-to-cloud migrations. Familiar with service mapping challenges, data movement constraints, and zero or low-downtime migration strategies.
  • Operational excellence mindset: Deep understanding of DevOps, observability, and modern release strategies such as feature flags and canary deployments.
  • Clear communication: Able to explain technical trade-offs, risks, and decisions to non-technical stakeholders in simple, direct language.
