Position: Engineering Manager / Associate Engineering Manager – Java
Location: Noida (work from office)
Experience: 9–15 years

About the Role
We are looking for an experienced Engineering Manager / Associate Engineering Manager to lead and grow a team of backend engineers, while staying hands-on with architecture and technical decision-making. This role sits at the intersection of people leadership and deep technical ownership — you'll guide system design, drive engineering best practices, and mentor a small, high-performing team building large-scale distributed systems.
Key Responsibilities
· Lead, mentor, and manage a small team of backend engineers, driving their technical growth and performance
· Own system design and architecture decisions for large-scale, distributed, event-driven systems
· Provide hands-on technical guidance across the SDLC — design reviews, code reviews, and troubleshooting complex production issues
· Drive adoption of microservices best practices, scalability patterns, and system reliability standards
· Collaborate with product managers, architects, and cross-functional teams to translate business requirements into robust technical solutions
· Champion engineering excellence — code quality, CI/CD practices, observability, and performance optimization
· Balance individual contribution with team leadership, staying close to the codebase while enabling the team to deliver
Required Skills & Qualifications
· 9+ years of hands-on experience in Java and Spring Boot.
· Prior experience in a fast-paced product/startup environment
· Strong expertise in Microservices Architecture and System Design
· Solid experience with event-driven and message-oriented architectures using Kafka, RabbitMQ, or similar technologies
· Proven track record of designing and building large-scale distributed systems
· Prior experience managing or mentoring a team of backend engineers
· Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to make sound architectural trade-offs
· Excellent communication skills — able to work closely with cross-functional stakeholders
· Exposure to AI/ML-driven tools, frameworks, or integrations (e.g., building or leveraging AI agents, LLM-based tooling)
· Working knowledge of or exposure to UI/frontend technologies, enabling effective collaboration with frontend teams
