Organize and lead team meetings to ensure communication and alignment on project goals and timelines.
2. Project Oversight & Execution
Oversee the mechanical design engineering aspect of multiple projects, ensuring they are delivered on time, within scope, and within budget.
Define project scopes, schedules, and resources required for mechanical design activities, ensuring alignment with overall project objectives.
Manage design reviews, ensuring that design solutions meet both client requirements and industry standards.
Monitor project progress, identify potential risks, and develop mitigation strategies to keep the projects on track.
3. Design Quality & Compliance
Ensure that all mechanical designs comply with relevant engineering codes, standards (ASME, ANSI, ISO, etc.), and client specifications.
Implement quality control procedures to ensure the mechanical design is accurate, consistent, and safe.
Review and approve engineering calculations, design drawings, and technical documents to ensure the highest standards of quality.
Maintain and enforce design documentation standards to ensure completeness and accuracy of design records.
4. Client & Stakeholder Communication
Serve as the primary technical point of contact for clients, ensuring that their requirements are understood and incorporated into the design process.
Collaborate with project managers, other engineering disciplines, and clients to ensure alignment of project goals and deliverables.
Support the sales and business development teams in the preparation of proposals, presentations, and client meetings.
Provide technical expertise and support during client meetings, including design reviews, workshops, and project status updates.
5. Resource Planning & Budgeting
Ensure effective resource allocation across multiple projects and departments.
Develop, track, and report on project budgets and timelines, managing resources efficiently to meet project goals.
Control costs by identifying potential inefficiencies and recommending improvements to design processes.
6. Process Improvement & Innovation
Identify opportunities for continuous improvement within the engineering team, including workflow optimization, automation, and new technologies.
Foster a culture of innovation by staying up to date with the latest developments in mechanical design and engineering technology.
Promote the adoption of best practices in mechanical design engineering to increase productivity and reduce costs.
7. Risk Management & Issue Resolution
Proactively identify and manage risks related to design, safety, and project execution.
Work with cross-functional teams to troubleshoot issues that arise during the design and construction phases.
Implement corrective actions and solutions to address challenges and ensure project success.
Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field. A Master's degree is a plus.
Experience: 10+ years of experience in mechanical design engineering, with at least 4-5 years in a leadership role managing engineering teams.
Certifications: Professional Engineer (PE) or Chartered Engineer (CEng) status is preferred. PMP or similar project management certification is a plus.

Technical Expertise: In-depth knowledge of mechanical engineering principles, including HVAC, piping, pressure systems, rotating equipment, and mechanical systems design.
Leadership: Proven ability to lead, motivate, and develop engineering teams, fostering a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement.
Project Management: Strong project management skills, with experience overseeing the execution of large-scale engineering projects.
Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to interact with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Software Proficiency: Experience with mechanical design software such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Revit, or similar tools. Familiarity with project management tools such as MS Project or Primavera is a plus.
