About the role:
ThoughtSpot is seeking a DevOps Engineering Manager based in Hyderabad to lead and grow a DevOps team that powers our CI/CD platforms, developer productivity tooling, and infrastructure. This is a hands-on engineering management role, ideal for someone with approximately 14 years of industry experience, including the last 2+ years managing engineers.
You will balance people leadership with deep technical involvement owning build systems, release pipelines, cloud and hybrid infrastructure, and day-to-day operational excellence that enables ThoughtSpot's high-scale SaaS platform.
What you will do:
Team Leadership & Execution
- Lead, mentor, and develop a team of DevOps engineers.
- Set clear goals, execution plans, and quality bars for the team.
- Foster a culture of ownership, reliability, and continuous improvement.
CI/CD & Build Systems
- Own and evolve CI/CD pipelines using Bazel and Jenkins.
- Improve build performance, reliability, and scalability across large codebases.
- Partner with application teams to standardise build and release best practices.
Artifact & Dependency Management
- Manage enterprise-scale artifact repositories using JFrog Artifactory.
- Define standards for versioning, promotion, retention, and supply-chain security.
Multi-Language Platform Support
- Support build and release workflows for Java (Gradle), Go, C++, and Python.
- Work closely with engineering teams to optimise language-specific tooling and workflows.
Cloud & Hybrid Infrastructure
- Operate and improve DevOps practices across AWS and GCP environments.
- Support DevOps and infrastructure operations for internal/onprem data centres.
- Enable Infrastructure-as-Code, automation, observability, and cost optimisation.
Reliability, Security & Operations
- Drive operational excellence through automation, monitoring, and alerting.
- Participate in incident response, root-cause analysis, and preventive improvements.
- Ensure CI/CD and infrastructure platforms meet security and compliance requirements.
Collaboration & Stakeholder Management
- Work closely with application engineering, security, IT, and customer-facing teams.
- Actively participate in design and architecture reviews, highlighting risks and improvement areas.
What you will bring:
- 14 years of experience in software engineering, DevOps, build & release, or infrastructure roles.
- 2+ years of experience in people management or technical team leadership.
- Strong hands-on experience debugging CI/CD failures, infrastructure issues, and production incidents.
- Deep expertise with Bazel and large-scale build systems.
- Strong hands-on experience with Jenkins.
- Experience with JFrog Artifactory and artifact lifecycle management.
- Proven experience supporting Java (Gradle), Go, C++, and Python build systems.
- Solid experience operating production systems on AWS and/or GCP.
- Experience with internal/onprem data centre infrastructure and hybrid cloud environments.
- Strong understanding of CI/CD best practices, DevOps principles, and Infrastructure-as-Code.
