About the Team

Navi's Engineering team builds the backbone of our financial products-spanning lending, upi & payments, insurance, investments, and debt management. We operate as cross-functional teams that work closely with Product, Data, and Business functions to deliver reliable, high-performance systems at scale. Our engineers focus on solving real-world challenges through scalable architecture, automation, and long-term thinking, along with providing quality feedback ensuring every Navi product is built to serve millions efficiently and seamlessly.

About the Role

As an Engineering Manager at Navi, you'll lead a team of engineers to design, build, and maintain scalable systems to serve customer and business needs. You'll ensure high-quality delivery, drive operational excellence, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to actively co-own technical and business roadmaps and drive business outcomes. You'll also mentor and grow engineers and help shape the technical direction of the team.

What You'll Own

• Lead and mentor a team of 10 engineers, fostering a collaborative, growth-oriented, and high-performance environment, which includes developing role-specific growth plans and effectively calibrating and differentiating performance across all team members.
• Set clear goals and expectations for individuals and the team, continuously track performance and coach for improvement.
• Collaborate with business, product, and HR stakeholders to align engineering initiatives with company goals, including the ability to push back with logic on priorities and handle conflicts constructively.
• Provide strong technical direction and hands-on support to ensure delivery of scalable and robust solutions. Champion production excellencewith a strong focus on observability, monitoring, and debuggability of systems.
• Drive execution of technical deliverables with a focus on quality, timely delivery, and long-term impact, while ensuring execution predictability.
• Support hiring efforts through workforce planning, interviewing, and evaluation with a strong focus on building a diverse and skilled team.
• Set the vision for your team and reinforce a business impact-oriented culture, driving a focus on long-term initiatives.

What Makes You a Great Fit

• Strong technical expertise in designing and delivering scalable, reliable, and observable backend systems, including the ability to deeply understand systems to challenge design choices and identify failure points, dependencies, and scalability issues.
• Experience driving end-to-end project delivery including planning, estimation, risk mitigation, and execution tracking.
• Solid understanding of SDLC best practices (code reviews, testing, CI/CD, on-call processes) and driving operational excellence through metrics .
