Role: Engineering Leader - Delivery (Healthcare & Lifesciences)

Role:
The Engineering Manager will lead end-to-end engineering delivery for complex Healthcare & Life Sciences software programs, ensuring high-quality, scalable solutions that meet clinical, regulatory, and business objectives. This role blends technical leadership, delivery ownership, people management, and financial accountability, with a strong focus on Agile engineering excellence, margin optimization, and customer success.
Based in India, this role partners closely with global healthcare clients, product owners, and distributed engineering teams across geographies.
Key Responsibilities
1. Engineering & Program Delivery Leadership
- Own end-to-end delivery of healthcare and life sciences software programs across web, data, cloud, and platform engineering.
- Define engineering goals, architecture guardrails, delivery milestones, and success metrics aligned to healthcare business outcomes.
- Drive Agile / SAFe / hybrid delivery models, ensuring predictable, iterative, and high-quality releases.
- Mentor and develop Engineering Managers, Tech Leads, Scrum Masters, and PMs.
- Build a culture of engineering ownership, accountability, continuous improvement, and learning.
- Identify skill gaps in healthcare engineering (FHIR, HL7, data platforms, cloud, security) and drive upskilling initiatives.
2. Healthcare & Life Sciences Domain Leadership
- Apply deep understanding of US Healthcare & Life Sciences ecosystems (Payer, Provider, PBM, Life Sciences, MedTech).
- Ensure solutions comply with healthcare regulations and standards (HIPAA, FHIR, HL7, DICOM, data privacy).
- Act as a trusted engineering advisor to clients on digital transformation, cloud modernization, analytics, and AI-driven healthcare platforms.
- Translate clinical and operational needs into scalable, secure engineering solutions.
3. Stakeholder Management & Governance
- Establish and maintain robust reporting cadences (WSR, MBR, QBR) with healthcare clients and internal leadership.
- Serve as the bridge between business stakeholders, product owners, and engineering teams.
- Provide data-driven insights on delivery health, risks, dependencies, and opportunities.
4. Financial, Revenue & Margin Ownership
- Own delivery P&L, ensuring programs meet revenue, margin, and utilization targets.
- Track and optimize costs, productivity, and ROI across healthcare programs.
- Drive engineering efficiency initiatives, including automation, DevOps maturity, reusable accelerators, and platform reuse.
- Partner with vendors and internal teams to ensure cost-effective delivery without compromising quality or compliance.
5. Engineering Quality & Operational Excellence
- Enforce engineering best practices across coding standards, testing strategies, CI/CD, and DevSecOps.
- Oversee architecture reviews, code reviews, sprint reviews, and retrospectives.
- Ensure delivery of high-quality, secure, scalable healthcare solutions aligned to business and user expectations.
- Proactively identify and mitigate delivery, technology, and compliance risks.

Must-Have Qualifications
- 15+ years of experience in software engineering and delivery, with significant exposure to Healthcare & Life Sciences.
- Proven experience as an Engineering Manager / Delivery Leader managing large, distributed teams.
- Strong hands-on understanding of SDLC, Agile/SAFe, CI/CD, DevOps, and Quality Engineering.
- Experience delivering healthcare platforms, data & analytics solutions, cloud-native systems, or regulated enterprise applications.
- Solid understanding of software architecture and modern engineering stacks (Java, .NET, Python, cloud frameworks).
- Proficiency with Agile delivery tools (JIRA, Azure DevOps).
- Strong financial acumen with experience managing revenue, margins, and delivery costs.
- Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and leadership skills.
Certifications:
- Certified Scrum Master (CSM) / SAFe Agilist
- PMP / PRINCE2 (preferred)
