Engineering Lead

About the Role

Key Responsibilities:

- Technical Leadership & Delivery:

- Lead end-to-end delivery across multiple engineering teams, ensuring secure, high-quality, and resilient solutions.

- Own delivery roadmaps with Product Owners, aligning to customer needs, platform strategy, regulatory requirements, and audit commitments.

- Provide technical leadership across cloud-native authentication architectures, APIs, distributed systems, and event-driven platforms.

- Drive engineering excellence through CI/CD, automated testing, observability, resilience, and secure-by-design practices.

- Cloud & Platform Engineering:

- Guide teams building services on Google Cloud Platform (GCP), including GKE, Cloud Run, IAM, Pub/Sub, and networking services.

- Enable scalable authentication and authorization capabilities such as MFA, OAuth2/OIDC, SSO, passkeys, token services, and credential management.

- People Leadership:

- Lead, mentor, and develop engineering talent across multiple squads.

- Foster a high-performing, inclusive culture focused on innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement.

- Partner closely with Product, Architecture, Security, SRE, and Technology Leadership teams.

- Operations, Risk & Governance:

- Drive operational excellence, incident management, capacity planning, and service reliability.

- Ensure compliance with security, risk, audit, and regulatory standards.

- Manage delivery risks, resolve complex production challenges, and promote continuous improvement.

What We're Looking For

- Experience & Leadership:

- 20+ years of software engineering experience with 5+ years leading engineering teams or squads.

- Proven success managing multiple teams and delivering complex technology platforms in regulated environments.

- Experience supporting high-availability, mission-critical services.

- Technical Expertise:

- Strong background in distributed systems, microservices, REST APIs, OIDC, and event-driven architectures.

- Proficiency in Java and cloud-native engineering.

- Hands-on experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP), including GKE, IAM, networking, and resilience engineering.

- Strong knowledge of system design, software architecture, and engineering best practices.
