We are looking for an experienced Product Manager to join our Data Engineering team. Data is the lifeblood of Goldman Sachs, and our data products are critical in delivering commercial success. In this role, you will support the development of our data platform, with a specific focus on integrating and managing AI capabilities . You will work closely with senior product managers, researchers, and engineers to help deliver solutions for internal and external business opportunities.

As a member of the Data Platform Product Management team, you will assist in understanding business processes and help execute the data strategy for various divisions. Our open-sourced Legend Data Platform is central to our strategy; you will help facilitate its adoption by supporting new workflows and AI-driven use cases. You will contribute to a team that values customer-centricity and collaborative development. Apply your product knowledge to boost metrics-driven insight generation, formulate and drive execution plans to build and improve features, and streamline the user journeys for our 30k+ monthly active users. Our team of product managers work closely with creatives and researchers through our design teams and are fortunate to have many experienced engineers to help architect and develop technologies. We are responsible for guiding products throughout all stages of the product's lifecycle, including research, pitching, scoping, delivering, promoting, and tailoring solutions to our clients.

We are looking for an experienced product manager familiar with product development and management who has a proven track record in leading the delivery of impactful platforms from inception to completion. The ideal candidate will be excited by solving customer problems, about working with end users to specify requirements and elicit feedback, and leading build and execution. We are looking for a talented and passionate Product Manager who thrives in an extremely entrepreneurial, fast paced environment. This is a high visibility role, backed by some of the senior-most leaders of the firm, and as such, will require creativity and drive to deliver on an ambitious roadmap.

How You Will Fulfill Your Potential

You will be an experienced Product Manager, working cross-functionally to guide products from conception through launch, growth and maturity by connecting technical and business domains to meet our customer needs. You will break down complex problems into steps that drive product development and release, adopting the principals of early releases and incremental deliveries to generate evidence of customer value.

As a Data Product Manager in Data Engineering, you will:

  • Contribute to one of the most critical Engineering functions at Goldman Sachs.
  • Help define and document requirements for AI features, ensuring they align with the firm's data governance and AI standards.
  • Establish robust relationships with our businesses and your users to make sure you build with impact.
  • Partner with business units to help model their processes and capture data requirements for AI-driven insights.
  • Become a proficient user of the Legend platform to help build data model-driven analytics and track Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
  • Use basic data analysis tools (SQL, Python, or internal analytics) to help the team decide which features to prioritize based on user evidence.
  • Work across engineering and design teams to ensure technical tasks are completed according to the product roadmap.
  • Shape the standards and policies within the firmwide Product Management function.
  • Understand business use cases so that you can influence and drive their prioritization and ensure the data platform is developed with the right fit-for-purpose.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's in a technical/ business degree or equivalent practical experience
  • 4-5 years of product and/or technical program management experience in a client facing role
  • Demonstrated success collaborating with design and engineering teams to drive product development
  • Comfortable with Agile processes, with an emphasis on creating backlogs that support the product roadmap
  • Proven ability to influence and/or lead a cross-functional team without direct authority
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate complex problems and roadmaps to stakeholders
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills to effectively document requirements and interact with stakeholders.
  • Ability to set goals, meet deadlines and effectively communicate progress to stakeholders
  • Proven ability to lead by example, with a positive attitude
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Independent thinker, willing to engage, challenge or learn
  • Ability to stay commercially focused and to always push for quantifiable commercial impact
  • A healthy obsession on customer satisfaction and the customer experience, and a willingness to be its internal advocate
  • Strong work ethic, a sense of ownership and urgency

Preferred Qualifications

  • Computer Science, Computer Engineering or Bachelor's/Master's/MBA in related fields
  • Basic understanding of the Machine Learning Development Lifecycle (MLDC), including data labeling, model training, and deployment monitoring.
  • Proficiency in SQL and a basic understanding of data structures. Familiarity with Python or R for data manipulation is a plus.
  • Ability to interpret data to support decision-making and identify user pain points.
