General Summary
Role Summary
As a Wear OS Developer, you will design, develop, and optimize software for wearable devices running Google's Wear OS platform. This role spans application development, platform integration, and performance tuning for smartwatches and other wrist-worn devices. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver robust, power-efficient solutions that enhance user experience on constrained hardware.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field.
Qualifications
Master's/bachelor's degree in engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science or related field.
1- 3 years of Software Engineering or related work experience.
1-3 years of experience in Android or embedded software development.
Principal Duties And Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain Wear OS applications and platform components using Kotlin/Java and Jetpack Compose for Wear OS.
- Implement UI surfaces such as Tiles, Complications, and Watch Faces optimized for glanceable interactions.
- Integrate with sensors, connectivity protocols (Bluetooth, Wi-Fi), and health APIs for real-time data.
- Collaborate with hardware and firmware teams to ensure seamless integration with SoCs and peripherals.
- Optimize code for power efficiency and performance, leveraging Ambient Mode and hybrid offload strategies.
- Conduct debugging and troubleshooting using ADB, logcat, and kernel-level tools.
- Participate in code reviews, documentation, and adherence to quality standards.
- Stay updated on Wear OS SDK changes and contribute to architectural decisions for future releases
Mandatory Qualifications
- Strong proficiency in Kotlin/Java and Android frameworks.
- Experience with Jetpack Compose for Wear OS and UI design for small screens.
- Familiarity with Android middleware, vendor HALs, and AOSP build systems.
- Excellent analytical and debugging skills.
Desired Skills
- Knowledge of display technologies, graphics frameworks (SKIA, LVGL), and vector rendering.
- Experience with Health Services API, sensor data processing, and Bluetooth stack.
- Solid understanding of ARM architecture, SoC fundamentals, and RTOS concepts
