About The Opportunity
To meet our growing business needs and future development aspirations we are looking for a River Modeller. You will be participating in the design of projects for the Environment Agency (UK), Local County Councils, and other public and private clients. You will also work with other disciplines within the group to deliver projects for major infrastructure clients.
Responsibilities include
Working within a multi-disciplinary design team including preparation of outline and detailed designs of flood risk management and river engineering solutions
Design of
- Earthwork embankments and conveyance channels
- Flow control structures
- Flood gates and demountable defences
- Surface water drainage
- Natural Flood Management solutions
- Technical specifications
- Hydraulic and structural calculations
- Designers Health & Safety and Public Safety Risk Assessments
- Technical Report writing
- Coordination and participation in drawing production
- Liaising with Lead Region Team, hydraulic modellers, Designers and other team members
Essential
Here's What You'll Need
- Civil or Water Resources or Structural Engineering Degree;
- Some experience in the development and coordination of outline and detailed designs of civil engineering solutions for public or private infrastructure projects;
- Experience of Safety in Design
- Proven ability to participate in multi-disciplinary teams in the development of design solutions;
- Proven ability to work as part of a team, liaising directly with clients, stakeholders and other design team members
Desirable
- Existing experience in River Engineering or a related discipline
- Knowledge of civil engineering industry standard design, 3D modelling and drawing production packages, including Building Information Management systems;
- Experience of some calculation-based analysis leading to production of designs in accordance with industry standard approaches;
- An existing related design skill or specialism (eg. structural design, surface water drainage, highways, bridges, foundations, geotechnical engineering, utilities).
