Job Description
Responsibilities include:
New Product Development
- Design and development of FRP pressure vessels as per applicable design codes such as ASME and product certification such as CE/NSF
- Idea generation and concepts design for new products development based on voice of customer and marketing requirements
- Creating design drawings and specifications
- Prototype building, components development with vendors for prototype parts and product testing as per regulatory requirements.
- Working closely with cross functional teams from Product Management, Manufacturing, Quality, Sourcing and other support functions for NPD development activities
- Project Management of New Product Development cycle.
Value Engineering (VAVE)
- Identifying cost reduction/value addition opportunities, support to sourcing for alternate material development
- VAVE concept designing, prototype building and testing
- Meeting identified VE target savings.
Sustaining engineering activities
- Engineering change process and product customization as per customer specific needs
- Support to Operations for productivity improvement and customer complaints RCCMs
Qualifications: BE in Mechanical Engineering or Polymer Engineering
Experience:6-8 years in new product design and development
Competencies Required
- Design of filament wound FRP pressure vessels and tanks as per ASME boiler & pressure vessel code or any other established design code for pressure vessels
- Knowledge of composite materials such as glass, resin systems and of FRP manufacturing processes such as filament winding, RTM, pultrusion etc
- Knowledge of mechanical design and of metal and plastic manufacturing processes
- Idea generation and concepts development
- Knowledge of new product development cycle
- CAD design - Solid works, AutoCad
- Knowledge of tools such as Pugh Analysis, QFD, DFMEA, PFMEA, DFMA, DFF, DVPR, Risk assessment etc
Desired Skills
- Strong analytical and critical thinking skills
- Good communication skills – verbal, written & presentation.
- Experience of working in an ISO certified organization
- Knowledge of SAP ERP system
- MS office
- Knowledge of FEA and prototyping and testing
