Job Description

Purpose of the Role

The Manufacturing Engineering / NPI Engineer is responsible for supporting new product introductions (NPI), manufacturing process development, quality documentation, change management, and continuous improvement activities for electronic module assembly operations. The role serves as a key interface between Engineering, Quality, Production, and Customers to ensure successful product launches and sustained manufacturing excellence.

Key Responsibilities

Product & Process Engineering

  • Prepare and maintain Bills of Materials (BoM) for manufacturing.
  • Generate and release Engineering Change Notifications (ECNs) and Software Release Notes.
  • Develop, establish and maintain manufacturing process documentation for module-level assembly operations.
  • Prepare Process Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (PFMEA) for module assembly processes.
  • Participate in PFMEA reviews with customer quality and engineering teams.
  • Support process validation and continuous improvement initiatives.

New Product Introduction (NPI) & Project Management

  • Prepare project plans and track project milestones.
  • Coordinate with cross-functional teams to ensure timely completion of NPI deliverables.
  • Monitor project progress and follow up on action items.
  • Support product industrialization and manufacturing readiness activities.

Quality & Compliance

  • Compile and maintain PPAP documentation packages.
  • Update and maintain IFC (Inspection Flow Chart) and IPP (Inspection Process Plan) registers.
  • Perform process and product audits as per defined audit schedules.
  • Prepare audit reports and drive closure of identified corrective actions.
  • Support internal and external Quality Management System (QMS) and Environmental Management System (EMS) audits.
  • Ensure compliance with customer, regulatory, and organizational quality requirements.

Operational Excellence

  • Lead and sustain assigned 5S zone activities.
  • Drive workplace organization and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Monitor adherence to manufacturing standards and procedures.
  • Support root cause analysis and implementation of corrective and preventive actions.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electronics Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related field.
  • 3-8 years of experience in Electronics Manufacturing Services (EMS), automotive electronics, industrial electronics, or related manufacturing environments.
  • Knowledge of NPI processes, manufacturing engineering, and quality systems.


Required Skills

  • BoM management and product structure understanding.
  • ECN/ECR management.
  • PFMEA preparation and risk assessment techniques.
  • PPAP documentation and APQP methodologies.
  • Process documentation and work instruction development.
  • Internal audit and quality compliance knowledge.
  • Project planning and coordination skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Effective communication and customer interaction skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience with Automotive Core Tools (APQP, PPAP, PFMEA, MSA, SPC).
  • Knowledge of IPC standards (IPC-A-610, IPC J-STD-001).
  • Exposure to ERP/MES systems.
  • Experience in electronics module assembly and testing processes.
  • Certified Internal Auditor for ISO 9001 and/or ISO 14001.
