Job Description

Job Summary
The Level 1.5 NOC Engineer will be responsible for monitoring, troubleshooting, and supporting enterprise network infrastructure. The role requires a solid understanding of IP domain technologies (Switching & Routing), handson experience with Fortigate firewall basics, and strong knowledge of incident and change management processes. The engineer will act as an escalation point for Level 1 and ensure effective coordination with Level 2/Level 3 teams.
Key Responsibilities
Monitor enterprise network and security infrastructure using NMS tools.
Perform initial and intermediate-level troubleshooting of network incidents, including LAN/WAN, Switching, Routing, and firewall-related issues.
Handle escalations from Level 1 and provide detailed analysis to Level 2 teams when required.
Manage and support Fortigate firewall operations at a basic to intermediate level (policies, routing, VPN checks, etc.).
Execute and support approved change management activities under guidance from senior engineers.
Create, update, and maintain incident, problem, and change records in ITSM tools (e.g., ServiceNow).
Provide timely communication and status updates to stakeholders during service incidents.
Ensure adherence to defined SLAs and operational procedures.
Participate in 24/7 rotational shifts, including weekends/holidays if required.
Prepare technical reports and documentation as needed.
Required Skills & Experience
35 years of experience in NOC or network support role.
Strong understanding of IP networking concepts, including:
VLANs, STP
Routing protocols (OSPF, BGP, EIGRP)
ARP, DHCP, DNS
Basic to intermediate hands-on exposure to Fortigate Firewalls (FortiOS).
Knowledge of incident management & change management processes (ITIL preferred).
Experience with network monitoring tools (SolarWinds, PRTG, Nagios, etc.).
Ability to analyze network faults using CLI on switches/routers/firewalls.
Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills.
Good communication skills (written and verbal).
Preferred Qualifications
Certifications such as CCNA, Fortinet NSE1/NSE2/NSE3 (or higher).
Experience working in an enterprise or service-provider network environment.
Familiarity with ticketing systems like ServiceNow, Remedy, or Jira.
