Job Description

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive work studies and method studies to analyze and improve manufacturing processes, layouts, and workflows in assembly, machining, and component production lines.
  • Perform time studies (stopwatch, continuous, snap-back) and establish standard times, allowances, and production rates.
  • Apply MOST (Maynard Operation Sequence Technique) and other Predetermined Motion Time Systems (PMTS) for accurate, consistent work measurement across repetitive and non-repetitive operations.
  • Evaluate and implement latest industrial engineering tools, including digital time-study software, computer-aided work measurement systems, AI-assisted process analysis, and ergonomic assessment tools.
  • Develop, maintain, and update standard data, process layouts, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and work instructions in SAP.
  • Lead productivity improvement projects, line balancing, and cycle-time reduction initiatives to achieve targeted OEE (Overall Equipment Effectiveness) and cost savings.
  • Collaborate with Production, Process engineering, Quality, and Cost Accounting teams to integrate work standards into costing systems, variance analysis, and budgeting.
  • Provide training and guidance to shop-floor teams and junior engineers on work-study techniques and MOST application.
  • Ensure all standards comply with automotive quality systems (IATF 16949/ VDA 6.3) and safety requirements.
  • Conduct periodic audits of existing standards and recommend process re-engineering where required.

Required Qualifications & Experience

  • Education: B.E./B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering or Industrial Engineering from a recognized institution.
  • Professional Qualification: ICWA/CMA – essential for cost-standard integration and financial impact analysis.
  • Experience: Minimum 10 years of hands-on experience in industrial studies, work measurement, and methods engineering specifically within the Automotive industry (Tier-1/Tier-2 suppliers preferred).
  • Proven track record of implementing time study, and method study projects that delivered measurable productivity gains and cost reductions.

Key Skills & Competencies

  • Mastery of Work Study (Method Study + Work Measurement), Time Study, MOST, MTM, and related PMTS tools.
  • Strong knowledge of lean manufacturing, 5S, Kaizen, and value-stream mapping.
  • Proficiency in industrial engineering software and latest digital tools for time/motion analysis.
  • Excellent analytical, observational, and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, shop-floor environment and influence cross-functional teams.
  • Good communication and training skills.

Preferred Attributes

  • Exposure to automotive-specific processes.
  • Certification in Six Sigma (Green/Black Belt) or equivalent.
