Job Description

Job Summary:

The Executive/Junior Engineer Broadcast Playout assists in the operation, monitoring, and maintenance of broadcast playout systems. This role supports the engineering team in ensuring smooth and reliable transmission of broadcast content. It is an excellent entry-level position for candidates looking to develop their technical skills in a live broadcast environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in monitoring playout servers, automation systems, and transmission equipment to ensure continuous broadcast operations.
  • Support routine maintenance tasks, system health checks, and preventive measures to minimize downtime.
  • Help troubleshoot technical issues and escalate complex problems to senior engineers.
  • Assist in the setup and configuration of broadcast equipment under supervision.
  • Maintain accurate logs and documentation of system status, incidents, and maintenance activities.
  • Follow operational procedures and safety protocols during broadcast operations.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including scheduling, content, and transmission groups.
  • Participate in shift rotations to provide 24/7 playout support, including nights and weekends.
  • Learn and stay updated with broadcast technology trends and best practices.
  • Support testing and implementation of system upgrades or new equipment.

Qualifications:

  • Diploma or Bachelors degree in Engineering, Broadcast Technology, or related field preferred.
  • Basic understanding of broadcast playout systems, video/audio signal flow, and IT networking.
  • Familiarity with broadcast automation software and media servers is a plus.
  • Strong problem-solving mindset and willingness to learn.
  • Ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
  • Good communication and documentation skills.
  • Flexibility to work in shifts, including nights and weekends.

Preferred Skills:

  • Hands-on experience or internships in broadcast or media environments.
  • Knowledge of IP broadcast workflows and video compression standards.
  • Basic scripting or IT skills (Linux, Windows, networking) are advantageous.
