Job Description
Reporting to the
Business Intelligence Manager, the Developer Business Intelligence supports Wesco's profitability and data-driven initiatives. This role focuses on developing analytical solutions using Power BI, Databricks, SQL, PowerApps, and automation technologies, while partnering closely with Business Analysts, the Profitability Team, and Business Units.
Responsibilities
Power BI, PowerApps, and Data Engineering
- Develop and maintain new and existing Power BI reports.
- Develop and maintain PowerApps applications.
- Work with SQL databases (table design, view creation, querying, optimization).
- Partner with IT to automate processes for the consolidated organization.
- Maintain accurate process documentation and technical specifications.
- Partner with the Profitability Team to support enhancements and toolsets.
- Partner with Business Units to identify and develop enhancements.
- Participate in User Acceptance Testing (UAT) for new enhancements.
- Create Dataset Views aligned to the Business Requirements Document (BRD).
- Create Workfiles following approved templates and organizational standards.
- Produce polished, highquality visual layouts aligned to BRD expectations.
- Apply Row-Level Security (RLS) and support AD group creation as needed.
- Ensure all unused elements are cleaned up prior to SIT deployment.
- Perform performance optimization on Databricks workfile views.
- Update the BRD with technical requirements identified during development.
- Conduct unit testing on workfiles prior to QA handoff.
- Deploy workfiles from DEV to SIT environments.
- Handoff solutions to the Architect for post-SIT deployment activities.
- Provide postproduction and preAMS support for assigned workfiles.
- Participate in AMS knowledge transfer to ensure long-term operational support.
Qualifications
Education
- Associate's Degree (U.S.) or College Diploma (Canada) required.
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field preferred.
Certifications
- Power BI or Tableau certification preferred.
Technical Experience
- 24 years of experience in BI development or SQL-based coding.
- 24 years programming knowledge (SQL, Python, DAX, R, or M).
- Experience building Power BI or other visualization tools.
- Intermediate/expert-level experience with Access and Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, macros/VBA, logic statements).
- Experience with Microsoft PowerApps and/or Power Automate.
- Knowledge of star schema data modeling.
- Familiarity with SSRS and Report Builder.
- Interest or experience in AI/ML or Azure Cognitive Services.
