Role Overview
We are seeking a highly experienced
SKID Design Engineer to join our engineering team in Bangalore. This role will focus on the design and development of
modular skid-based systems and e-house solutions, which are critical to Schneider Electric's portfolio in
medium-voltage (MV), low-voltage (LV), and energy storage applications.
The ideal candidate will bring strong expertise in
structural engineering, advanced analysis, and cross-functional collaboration, ensuring safe, scalable, and high-performance skid solutions.
Key Responsibilities
Skid & Structural Design
- Design and develop mechanical skid frames and modular platforms for:
- MV/LV switchgear
- Transformer skids
- Battery energy storage systems (BESS)
- Multi-technology skids (SWGR + XFMR + LVS)
- Create GA drawings, fabrication drawings, and 3D models
- Optimize designs for manufacturing, transportation, and site installation
Structural Analysis & Engineering
- Perform and approve structural calculations for:
- Dead, live, and equipment loads
- Wind, snow, and seismic loads
- Transportation and lifting conditions
- Conduct advanced structural simulations and analysis
- Ensure compliance with international design standards (IS, IEC, AISC, ASCE, Eurocodes)
- Validate structural integrity and compliance with relevant codes and standards.
Foundation & Interface Engineering
- Perform skid-to-foundation interface analysis
- Define:
- Base load reactions
- Anchor bolt configurations
- Structural support schemes
- Collaborate with civil and project teams for integrated design solutions
Transportation, Lifting & Installation
- Develop skid designs considering transport constraints and logistics
- Design lifting lugs, rigging solutions, and installation strategies
- Ensure structural safety during handling, transport, and site erection
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Work closely with:
- Electrical engineering teams
- Civil & structural functions
- Manufacturing and supply chain teams
- Project execution teams
- Participate in design reviews, technical discussions, and risk assessments
Technical Documentation & Communication
- Prepare:
- Structural design calculations
- Engineering reports
- Technical specifications and documentation
- Demonstrate clear and effective communication across global teams
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering
- 6+ years of relevant experience in skid design / structural engineering
- Strong expertise in:
- Structural analysis and calculations
- Steel structure design
- Modular and skid-based systems
- Proficiency in:
- STAAD, ANSYS, or equivalent tools
- AutoCAD / 3D CAD platforms (SolidWorks, Creo, etc.)
- Familiarity with global engineering standards and codes
- Proficiency in CAD tools (e.g., AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Creo, or similar)
Preferred Experience
- Experience with e-house solutions, MV/LV systems, or BESS skids
- Exposure to modular power or data center infrastructure solutions
- Background in EPC, power systems, or industrial projects
