Job Description

Broad Outline of the Role

The Database & Data Platform Administrator is responsible for managing, maintaining, and optimizing structured and semistructured data platforms, including MySQL, MongoDB, Data Lake, and Data Warehousing environments. The role ensures high availability, performance, security, scalability, and data reliability for businesscritical applications and analytics platforms.

The position involves close collaboration with application, analytics, and infrastructure teams to support transactional systems, reporting, and largescale data processing platforms.

Minimum Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or equivalent.
  • 0-2 years handson experience with:
    • MySQL (productionscale environments)
    • MongoDB (replica sets, sharding)
    • Data Warehousing platforms (e.g., Snowflake, Redshift, BigQuery, Hive, or equivalent)

Other Knowledge & Skills

Technical Skills

  • Strong SQL and query optimization skills.
  • Experience with schema design, data modeling, and indexing strategies.
  • Knowledge of high availability, replication, and disaster recovery architectures.
  • Understanding of ETL / ELT pipelines and data ingestion frameworks.
  • Familiarity with Linux operating systems and shell scripting.

Behavioral & Professional Skills

  • Strong analytical and problemsolving ability.
  • Ability to troubleshoot complex production issues under pressure.
  • Clear communication with technical and nontechnical stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

  • Install, configure, upgrade, and maintain databases.
  • Manage replication, backups, and recovery strategies.
  • Perform performance tuning, query optimization, and index management.
  • Ensure database availability, integrity, and data consistency.
  • Support schema changes and deployments in coordination with application teams.
  • Manage data ingestion, storage, and lifecycle within the Data Lake.
  • Ensure reliability, scalability, and performance of large datasets.
  • Implement data retention, archival, and housekeeping policies.
  • Ensure daily backups and periodic recovery testing across platforms.
  • Maintain Disaster Recovery readiness and support DR drills.
  • Implement database security best practices across platforms.
  • Apply patches and vulnerability fixes within SLA timelines.
  • Support internal and external audits as required.
