Job Description
WSP is seeking an enthusiastic, creative, and delivery-oriented candidate who has practical experience
with GIS and a profound interest in GIS technologies and updates.
The GIS engineer will primarily assist with data management and mapping activities related to
environmental investigation.
Outputs and maps would be based on input and requests from the contaminated land and geospatial
solutions teams in Denmark. All deliverables produced shall comply with WSP standards and
procedures.
Responsibilities
The role would involve:
- Interact with Project Manager and business partners to understand requirements and scope
the systems.
- Use GIS and spatial analysis tools to build and maintain geospatial databases including
digitising, data conversion and editing of GIS layers.
- Provide software design & development expertise following standard code writing practices.
- Work with the QGIS software, understanding of topography and hydrology.
- Experience with GIS, strong technical understanding of maps.
- Capture required topographic layers from Old maps, imagery and other sources.
- Production of maps and figures to be used in reports and studies, in compliance with WSP
quality management system (QMS).
- Perform quality reviews to ensure geospatial and content accuracy.
- Proactively identify improvements to enhance the company's GIS service to clients.
- Attend to team and project needs as required and respond within agreed timeframes.
- Provide regular work status updates, including risks or concerns, to line manager.
- Contribute to the technical capabilities of the Earth and Environment team through provision of training.
- Develop own expertise and stay updated of developments in GIS technologies.
- Ensure that Health & Safety is embedded into all work practices in accordance with company policies.
- Support the sustainability strategy for WSP.
Key Competencies / Skills:
Mandatory Skills
- A minimum of 2-3 years of experience in providing GIS support in different kinds of
environmental projects.
- Experience with software products QGIS
- Thorough knowledge of Geographical Information System.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills in English.
- Ability to work in a very dynamic and demanding work environment.
- Ability to work independently with minimal oversight.
Desired Skills
- Basic CAD experiences desirable. (AutoCAD)
- Basic knowledge of coding is desirable. Python and Java programming is an advantage but not
required.
- Experience in knowing and handling Remote sensing data is an advantage.
- Knowledge of MicroStation and Arc GIS Pro is an advantage.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Suite is desirable.
- International experience is preferred.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Geography, Geology, Environmental Science, Computer Science, Information Systems or other related field, or equivalent experience
BGV:
- Employment with WSP India is subject to the successful completion of a background verification (BGV) check conducted by a third-party agency appointed by WSP India.
