Job Description

  • As an integral part of NTI/Sub-system team at Ingersoll Rand, CFD Engineer will be responsible for conducting Computational Fluid Dynamics and Heat Transfer analysis and simulations to analyze, optimize, and validate complex flow modeling

  • Your expertise in Thermal and Fluid dynamics will be instrumental in ensuring accurate and reliable results
  • Additionally, your familiarity with Python programming will provide a valuable advantage in developing automated analysis tools and enhancing our simulation capabilities
  • Simulation tools may consist of 3D CFD analysis, Screw compressor modeling, Vacuum Pumps Heat Exchanger Modeling, Gas-Oil Separation Simulations, one-dimensional analysis (1D) and/or other methods
  • Experience in working with GT Suite will be an added advantage

Responsibilities:

  • Perform CFD on various mechanical subsystem components to evaluate fluid flow characteristics, heat transfer and system statics.
  • Utilize your strong knowledge of fluid mechanics, heat mass transfer to accurately model and simulate real-world engineering problems.
  • Perform FSI modeling for valves.
  • Improve the theoretical calculation discipline and enhance existing practices.
  • Validate CFD results through comparisons with experimental data, analytical solutions, and established standards, ensuring the accuracy and reliability of the simulations.
  • Perform a thorough post processing of the results, develop detailed and impactful reports with design recommendations.
  • Carryout hand calculations and build 1-D tools, which will improve productivity.
  • Desire to work in fast-paced environment.
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills; ability to interact with cross-functional teams, management and external vendors.
  • Work with the internal stakeholders and ensure that the expectations and the requirements are clarified, understood and clearly communicated.
  • Develop design guides and best practices, or update the existing ones consistently to ensure that the standard work and repeatability is established in simulation.
  • Develop the project plan, keep it updated with the progress and consistent reporting to the stakeholders.
  • Lead/participate in the Design reviews and present the simulation results as part of the projects.
  • Continue to improve the simulation capabilities and be abreast with the latest advancement in the tools, with active external awareness and continuous self-learning.

Mandatory/ Essential Skills

  • Expertise in simulation of Fluid Flow and heat transfer physics pertaining to Pressure Drops, Static and transient modeling for various industrial equipment simulations like compressors, Dryers etc
  • Expertise in simulation of Air-Cooled Water Cooled Heat Exchanger through conjugate heat transfer physics in Ansys Fluent, Ansys CFX.
  • Expertise in multiphase flow simulation for gas separation and the moisture separation.
  • Experience in solving Screw Compressors, Vacuum Pumps using Ansys Fluent, Ansys CFX, GridPro, Converge Forte tools.
  • Rigorous knowledge of Fluid Mechanics and Heat Transfer with a demonstrated ability to carry out hand calculations and building analytical tools.

Desired skills:

  • Comfortable in using Ansys Space Claim and workbench meshing for pre-processing.
  • Good knowledge in fluent meshing for polyhedral meshing generation.
  • Experience in carrying out screw compressors modeling in GridPro and Ansys solver tools.
  • Experience in conducting experiments and validation studies.
  • Knowledge of Python or MATLAB programming will be an added advantage.
  • Preferred experience in analyzing and designing air compressor components.
  • Experience in working with GT Suite will be an added advantage.
  • Experience on Aero Acoustic modeling will be an added advantage.

Qualification and Experience:

  • Masters Degree in Thermal / Fluids / Mechanical / Aerospace Engineering
  • 3-5 years of experience solving steady state and transient simulations for compressor package subsystem modeling, vacuum pumps, gas-oil separation, and estimation of noise levels.
