About The Role
The role involves working within the Software Engineering team to develop, optimize, and maintain camera sensor and image processing frameworks for next-generation mobile devices. The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing and implementing driver-level software, troubleshooting complex hardware-software interactions, and collaborating closely with hardware teams to bring up new camera sensors. This position requires a deep understanding of multimedia technologies, camera pipelines, and embedded systems, along with strong programming and debugging skills. The candidate will also engage in performance tuning, power optimization, and validation activities to ensure high-quality camera performance in mobile devices. Willingness to travel to customer sites and other Qualcomm offices for collaborative development and support is essential.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate should possess a Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or related fields with a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience, or a Master's degree with at least 1 year of experience. A PhD in a related discipline is also acceptable. Candidates must demonstrate proficiency in programming languages such as C, C++, Java, or Python, with solid debugging skills and a good understanding of operating system fundamentals. Experience in multimedia technologies, especially camera/video frameworks, is essential. Knowledge of Android camera systems, image processing algorithms, and SoC architecture will be advantageous. Strong communication skills and logical reasoning abilities are crucial for success in this role.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and optimize camera sensor drivers and image processing algorithms for mobile devices.
- Collaborate with hardware teams to bring up new camera sensors, including sensor initialization, calibration, and tuning.
- Implement and maintain software components related to camera pipeline, including 3A algorithms, auto-focus, auto-exposure, and auto-white balance.
- Perform debugging and root cause analysis of complex issues such as memory corruption, deadlocks, race conditions, and real-time constraints.
- Participate in system performance analysis, power optimization, and robustness testing of camera frameworks.
- Contribute to unit testing and validation activities, utilizing frameworks like CPPTest or GoogleTest.
- Work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration of camera modules with overall device architecture.
- Document technical specifications, design decisions, and testing procedures to support ongoing development and maintenance.
- Travel as needed to customer sites and Qualcomm offices for collaborative development and support activities.
