Job Title: Engine Shop - Production Engineering - Block Machining
Job Description:
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Production Engineer specialized in Block Machining to join our engine shop team. The primary responsibility of this role is to oversee and optimize the machining processes for engine blocks, ensuring high precision and quality standards. The Production Engineer will work closely with the manufacturing team to implement efficient machining techniques, troubleshoot production issues, and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and implement machining processes for engine blocks, ensuring adherence to specifications and quality standards.
- Monitor and optimize machining operations to enhance productivity and minimize waste.
- Collaborate with design and engineering teams to develop efficient fixturing and tooling solutions.
- Conduct root cause analysis for manufacturing defects and implement corrective actions.
- Develop process documentation, including work instructions and standard operating procedures.
- Train and mentor production staff on machining best practices and safety protocols.
- Evaluate and recommend new technologies or equipment to improve efficiency and quality.
- Ensure compliance with safety standards and regulations within the production environment.
- Analyze production data and metrics to identify areas for improvement and implement solutions.
Skills Required:
- Strong knowledge of machining processes, specifically related to engine block manufacturing.
- Proficient in CAD software for designing fixtures and tooling.
- Familiarity with CNC programming and operation.
- Understanding of quality control principles and measurement techniques.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
- Detail-oriented with a focus on precision and quality.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
Tools Required:
- CNC machining centers and lathes.
- Precision measuring instruments (calipers, micrometers, gauges).
- CAD/CAM software (such as SolidWorks, Mastercam, or similar).
- ERP software for production planning and inventory management.
- Safety equipment (gloves, eyewear, etc.) as per safety standards.
- General hand tools for assembly and maintenance tasks.
