Engine Shop Maintenance – Shop Floor (Electrical / CNC Maintenance)
Job Summary
Responsible for maintenance, troubleshooting, and reliability improvement of machine tools, CNC machines, assembly equipment, and special purpose machines (SPM) in the engine shop. Focus on preventive, condition-based, and reliability-centered maintenance to ensure high equipment uptime and productivity.
Key Responsibilities
Maintenance Activities
- Carry out Preventive Maintenance (PM), Condition-Based Maintenance (CBM), and Time-Based Maintenance (TBM) for:
- Machine tools
- CNC machines
- Assembly equipment
- Ensure all electrical equipment operates efficiently with minimal downtime
Reliability-Centered Maintenance (RCM)
- Preserve system functionality through structured maintenance practices
- Identify and analyze failure modes affecting equipment performance
- Prioritize critical failure modes based on impact
- Define and implement effective maintenance tasks to mitigate failures
Breakdown & Troubleshooting
- Troubleshoot electrical and control system breakdowns using:
- Circuit diagrams
- Diagnostic tools and testing equipment
- Practical/shortcut fault-finding methods
- Improve response time and enhance machine productivity
Maintenance Records & Analysis
- Record repeated and major breakdowns in history logs / CMMS
- Perform root cause analysis (RCA) for recurring failures
- Implement corrective and preventive actions to avoid recurrence
Team & Contractor Management
- Supervise shop floor technicians and subcontractors
- Ensure timely and effective execution of maintenance activities
- Coordinate with production teams for planned maintenance
Installation & Commissioning
- Handle erection and commissioning of:
- VMC & HMC machining centers
- CNC machines and assembly lines
- Experience with machines such as:
- DMG MORI, Mazak, Makino, GROB, WIA, Doosan, MAC
- Work on equipment including:
- Lathe machines
- Grinding machines
- Industrial robots
- SPMs (Balancing, Honing, Hardening, Press, etc.)
PLC & CNC Control Systems
- Read, write, and troubleshoot PLC programs:
- FANUC
- Mitsubishi MELSEC (Q, L, F Series)
- Siemens (S7-300/400)
- ABB
- Troubleshoot CNC/NC systems:
- FANUC: 18i, 16i, PowerMate, 160i, 180i series
- SIEMENS: 840D, 840Di, 802D, SL840D/Di, SL810D
Special Equipment Handling
- Maintenance of Special Purpose Machines (SPM) such as:
- Hardening machines
- Honing and lapping machines
- Plug press machines
- Sealant application systems
Required Qualifications
Education
- Diploma in Electrical / Electronics / Mechatronics / Mechanical
Experience
- Experience in:
- Heavy engineering industries
- Automotive manufacturing
- Engine or machine shop environments
Technical Skills
- Strong knowledge of CNC systems and machine tools
- PLC programming and troubleshooting
- Electrical schematics reading
- Root cause analysis and reliability engineering
Hands-on experience in SPM and automation systems
