Job Description

Key Responsibilities:

Wind Resource & Energy Yield Assessment

  • Analyze wind resource data (met mast, LiDAR, SoDAR) and perform data validation and filtering.
  • Use industry-standard software (e.g., WAsP, WindPRO, OpenWind, WindFarmer, or Meteodyn) for wind flow modeling.
  • Conduct long-term wind data correlation and MCP (Measure-Correlate-Predict) analysis.
  • Simulate energy yield estimates and net capacity factor (NCF) projections for proposed wind sites.
  • Prepare detailed energy production reports (EPAs) for internal decision-making and investor use.

Project Optimization & Design Support

  • Support layout optimization of wind turbines based on terrain, wind flow, and wake loss analysis.
  • Evaluate different turbine models and hub heights to maximize project generation and returns.
  • Collaborate with civil, electrical, and project development teams on technical aspects of wind projects.

Due Diligence & Reporting

  • Support technical due diligence of greenfield or acquisition wind projects.
  • Analyze SCADA data, downtime, performance ratios, and historical generation from operational projects.
  • Prepare investment-grade reports and presentations for lenders, investors, and stakeholders.

GIS & Site Screening

  • Perform site identification and pre-feasibility studies using GIS, terrain mapping, and exclusion zones.
  • Assist in micro-siting and environmental setback planning using relevant tools and datasets.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical / Electrical / Renewable Energy / Atmospheric Science / Physics / Energy Engineering
  • Specialization or certification in wind energy assessment (preferred)

Experience:

  • 2–6 years of relevant experience in wind resource assessment, wind project development, or consulting
  • Experience working with utility-scale wind projects (onshore/offshore)

Key Skills & Tools:

  • Wind resource software: WAsP, WindPRO, WindFarmer, OpenWind, Meteodyn WT
  • GIS tools: QGIS, ArcGIS (for mapping and exclusion analysis)
  • Data analysis: MS Excel, Python, or R (basic preferred)
  • SCADA data interpretation and performance benchmarking
  • Knowledge of IEC standards, IEA Best Practices, and local regulatory norms (e.g., MNRE, C-WET in India)
