Summary
An Investigation Specialist is responsible for conducting thorough and objective investigations into employee complaints, allegations of misconduct, policy violations, and other workplace issues. The investigator will ensure that all investigations are conducted in compliance with company policies, legal standards, and best practices. The role requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to handle sensitive information with discretion.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
• Respond to and resolve complex employee and associate complaints and concerns and influence outcomes that reduce risk for the Company.
• Initiate and conduct prompt, thorough, and impartial investigations into employee and associate complaints, including harassment, discrimination, retaliation, and other workplace issues.
• Gather and analyze relevant evidence, including documents, emails, and other records. Handle all investigation related information with the highest level of confidentiality and discretion.
• Interview complainants, witnesses, and subjects of investigations, ensuring a fair and respectful process.
• Maintain detailed and accurate records of investigations, including interview notes, evidence collected, and findings. Ensure investigations are conducted in accordance with company policies, legal requirements, and best practices.
• Perform root cause analysis and recommend improvements to policies, processes, and controls. Prepare investigation reports that summarize findings, conclusions, and recommendations.
• Ability to simultaneously drive multiple, highly sensitive cases forward to timely resolution.
• Stay informed about changes in employment laws and regulations that may impact the investigation process.
• Work closely with HR, legal counsel, and management to address investigation findings and implement appropriate corrective actions.
• Review analytics to identify opportunities for improving policies, programs and procedures based on data and trends.
• Provide guidance and support to managers and employees on investigation related matters. Promote a culture of compliance and ethical behavior within the organization.
• Assist in developing and delivering training related to workplace conduct, harassment prevention, and ethical behavior.
• Coach and support employees and associates in crisis.
• Participate in special projects and perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
• 3+ years experience in workplace investigations, compliance, legal operations, ethics, or employee relations; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Experience with conducting workplace investigations including developing investigative plans, analyzing data, making credibility assessments, drawing conclusions, reporting findings, and making recommendations.
• Familiarity with US workplace norms, policies, and employment related standards.
• Excellent communication skills, including the ability to manage sensitive conversations.
• Demonstrated success in resolving conflict, specifically in high risk and/or complex situations, and working with people in crisis in a multi-unit organization.
• Consulting, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills and the ability to influence leaders and shape outcomes to effectively manage risk and meet business objectives. Willingness and ability to coach and mentor.
• Analyzes information objectively and makes well-reasoned decisions. Ability to identify opportunities for improvement to programs, policies, processes, controls and to collaborate with others in implementing solutions.
