Location:

Pune, Maharashtra / Vapi, Gujarat / On-site

Reports To:

Manager R&D.

Job Purpose:

To design, develop, and prototype embedded hardware systems using microcontrollers (Arduino, ESP32), microprocessors (Raspberry Pi family), and custom PCB development. The role involves firmware development, electronics prototyping, hardwaresoftware integration, and optional support for Unity-based interactions and fabrication processes. This position is responsible for building reliable, scalable, and high-quality electronic modules for R&D, automation, IoT, and product engineering initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Embedded Development Microcontrollers

  • Develop and program embedded applications using Arduino and ESP32 platforms.
  • Interface sensors, actuators, motor drivers, communication modules (WiFi/BLE), and digital/analog peripherals.
  • Implement firmware in C/C++ / MicroPython, ensuring performance, stability, and real-time control.
  • Perform hardware debugging, signal testing, protocol analysis, and optimization.

2. Microprocessor Systems Raspberry Pi

  • Work with Raspberry Pi, Pi Zero, Pi Zero W for higher-compute embedded applications.
  • Develop system-level scripts in Python/C# for device control, data logging, and automation tasks.
  • Integrate GPIO, camera modules, displays, networking, and external hardware devices.
  • Configure Linux environments, services, and system-level interfaces.

3. PCB Design & Electronics Prototyping

  • Design schematics, PCB layouts, and circuits using KiCad / Altium / Eagle.
  • Develop prototype boards for sensors, drivers, communication modules, and controller interfaces.
  • Coordinate PCB fabrication, assembly, soldering, and testing processes.
  • Ensure compliance with electrical safety, component selection standards, and documentation (BOM, wiring diagrams).

4. Software Integration (Optional Requirement)

  • Use C# for developing small applications, tools, or integration scripts.
  • Optional support for building Unity-based hardware interaction modules.
  • Collaborate with software teams for bridging embedded systems with desktop, cloud, or XR environments.

5. Fabrication & Mechanical Prototyping (Optional)

  • Support 3D printing, laser cutting, CNC, and mechanical enclosure prototyping.
  • Build hardware assemblies, mounting systems, and product prototypes.
  • Assist in housing design and improving usability and durability of prototypes.

6. Testing, Validation & Support

  • Conduct performance testing, stress checks, and hardware validation.
  • Maintain detailed logs of issues, improvements, and hardware-software dependencies.
  • Provide timely support for field demos, lab integrations, and internal R&D experiments.

7. Documentation & Compliance

  • Create documentation for firmware, PCB designs, wiring diagrams, and assembly procedures.
  • Prepare test reports, prototype notes, and engineering update summaries.
  • Ensure adherence to R&D workflows, safety protocols, and quality procedures.

8. Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Work closely with Mechanical, Software, Robotics, and Product teams.
  • Participate in hardware reviews, system integration meetings, and prototype evaluations.
  • Provide technical insights during design discussions and product improvements.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Diploma / B.Tech / B.E. in Electronics, Electrical, Instrumentation, Mechatronics, Computer Engineering, or related field.
  • 15 years of hands-on experience in embedded systems, firmware development, or PCB design.
  • Strong experience with Arduino, ESP32, and basic Linux systems on Raspberry Pi.
  • Experience in PCB design tools (KiCad / Eagle / Altium).
  • Basic familiarity with C#; exposure to Unity is preferred but not mandatory.
  • Knowledge of fabrication tools (3D printers, soldering, prototyping) is an added advantage.

Skills and Competencies:

  • Strong understanding of microcontrollers, microprocessors, and embedded electronics.
  • Hands-on experience with communication protocols (UART, SPI, I2C, GPIO).
  • Ability to read datasheets, schematics, and debugging tools (multimeter, oscilloscope).
  • Good C/C++ fundamentals for firmware; Python and C# exposure preferred.
  • Problem-solving, rapid prototyping, and debugging mindset.
  • Effective communication, documentation, and teamwork skills.

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs):

  • Quality and reliability of firmware and hardware prototypes delivered.
  • Timely completion of PCB designs, embedded modules, and prototype integrations.
  • Stability, performance, and accuracy of embedded systems.
  • Reduction in hardware failures, debugging cycles, and rework.
  • Contribution to R&D innovation, internal automation, and product enhancement.
