Embedded Software Engineer

Title: Embedded SW Automation Engineer (Embedded Systems / HMI &CCB / Python based custom frameworks)

Job Description:

We are looking for an Embedded SW Test Automation Engineer with strong experience in embedded systems, Python-based custom automation frameworks, ARM and Linux-based platforms.

Core Responsibilities:

· Understand Linux-based HMI and CCB systems requirements, existing test protocols and accurately translate manual test protocols into automated test script(s).

· Convert and existing manual test protocols into automated test cases using the in-house Hydra Automation Framework. (Hydra is Steris in-house Python based custom frameworks/Automation SW test tool).

· Set up and configure test environments involving Arduino boards, HMIs, simulators, and peripheral hardware interfaces in accordance with work instructions.

· Develop and execute automated test scripts leveraging Hydra Tool using Its interfaces such as Serial interfaces, CAN interfaces, Touch interfaces, Barcode scanners, Printer interfaces, Video capture cards etc.

· Ensure Test execution of automated test cases on embedded HMI devices, including seamless integration with hardware interfaces and test simulators.

· Log identified defects using bug-tracking tools(Jira).

· Perform detailed debugging and root-cause analysis for failed test cases and automation scripts.

Software Testing & Technical Skills :

· Strong ability to understand manual test procedures and convert them into fully automated workflows.

· Knowledge of test design, automation strategies, and test coverage principles.

· Experience developing and executing test protocols for functional testing of embedded devices.

· Proficiency with Python-based automation frameworks (PyTest, or custom Python-based frameworks).

· Usage experience with Arduino boards, embedded simulators, and peripheral interfaces.

· Good understanding of Linux environments and HMI-based systems.

· Good Understanding of communication protocols ( CAN,SPI,I2C and RS232 etc) and device interaction.

· Knowledge of test coverage, debugging, and basic troubleshooting hardware/software test issues.

· (Preferred) Experience in the medical device domain or other regulated embedded systems environments.

· Firmware, embedded systems, development, troubleshooting and debugging.

· Experience in writing Test scripts, test automation.

Soft Skills :

· Clear and effective written (documentation skills) and verbal communication.

· Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks efficiently, and meet project deadlines.
